These mobile plans stack up extremely well for overall cost and data allowance over 12 months plus network coverage. You may also get a little something extra such as Wi-Fi calling and data rollover.

Great
These mobile plans are competitively priced and offer a decent amount of data. You might need to compromise just a little bit on extra features.
5+
Standard
Usually these mobile plans are just okay for overall cost over 12 months and the amount of data you're getting in return. Network coverage and extra features can be lacking.
0+
Basic
You can generally do better than what these mobile plans have to offer in terms of cost, data costs, network coverage and features. In short, they're poor value for money.
Congratulations, TPG!
TPG won the following awards in the 2024 Product Awards:
While there's no question that TPG's plans offer good dollar-for-data value, you won't get much else from a TPG mobile plan. If you're looking for flashy extras, you'll need to look elsewhere.
Otherwise TPG is a solid choice in terms of plan inclusions:
Get up to $10 off per month on your mobile plan if you already have a TPG broadband plan.
Free SIM and delivery anywhere in Australia.
It might do well in terms of value, but also consider:
You'll need to pay $11 to port your mobile number from TPG to any other provider if you choose to switch.
TPG's pay-as-you-go roaming rates won't be budget-friendly if you want to use your plan overseas.
TPG's prepaid plans range from $20 for 12GB monthly up to $40 for 60GB monthly. The value of TPG's plans gets better the more data you're after.
TPG's plans last for a full month, which makes it better value than other 28-30 day expiry prepaid plans. This means you'll recharge 12 times a year, instead of 13 times.
Another great feature is that TPG offers an extra 2GB for $10 if you go over your monthly data cap. This is more than what other providers offer, which is along the lines of 1GB for $10.
Watch out for
If you sign up to TPG and then later move your number to another provider, you'll be charged an $11 "port out" fee – most providers let you do this for free.
The TPG app available from most app stores is not compatible with TPG's mobile plans, only its internet plans.
Coverage
Metro customers shouldn't have a problem with reception with TPG, which operates on the Vodafone 4G network. For its 60GB SIM Only plan, its using a 5G network trial, but you'd need to have a 5G compatible handset and be located in a 5G coverage area.
Vodafone 4G mobile network reaches 96% of the population.
The coverage you get with TPG is identical to what you'd get on a plan straight from Vodafone.
Metro customers may not experience any issues, but you might notice a difference in reception in rural or regional areas since TPG does not have the Telstra network's 99.5% coverage.
Customer service
Want help from TPG? You can reach out 7 days of the week:
Ring its Mobile Product Support about your mobile service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Send them an email.
Post on the TPG customer forum and get assistance from customer support or other users who have experienced the same problem.
Ask a question on TPG's Facebook or X (formerly Twitter) page.
There are no physical stores for TPG, so you won't be able to get any face-to-face help if that's your preference.
Keep in mind: While TPG does actually have a mobile app available for download, it will only let you manage your TPG internet plan – not your mobile plan.
Bonus features
TPG only has 1 bonus feature on its plans, available at an extra cost:
🌏 International calls
For an additional $5 per month, you can add on unlimited calls to landline and mobile numbers in 37 countries. This could be useful if you have friends or family overseas that you'd like to stay in touch with.
Which rivals are giving TPG a run for its money?
TPG's a safe option for decent value, but it's a bit light on the features. Here are some other providers that match up well.
For extra features:
When you sign up with Optus prepaid plans, you get bonus features like data rollover between recharges, discounted access to streaming services and more.
For "unlimited" prepaid plans:
Most prepaid plans cut your data off when you hit your limit. Some of Vodafone's prepaid plans let you keep browsing at a maximum speed of 1.5Mbps even after you reach your monthly allowance.
For more data:
If TPG's data isn't enough for you, check out Circles.Life's 100GB plan. It offers big data at an affordable price. It also runs on the Optus 4G network so you'll get wider coverage too.
Ready to sign up to TPG mobile?
If TPG feels like the right fit for you, you can sign up to any of its prepaid plans online. If you live in a metro area and order and pay for your first month's pan fee before 12pm, you get free next-business-day delivery.
What if I want to keep my current phone number? TPG makes this easy. During registration, you'll be able to request that your number gets ported over from your old provider. This normally takes 24-48 hours. If you're activating a new number, TPG claims this could sometimes take only 2 hours.

Important information about this website
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stands by our editorial principles
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
