Before Finder, finding a good credit card meant navigating a maze of fine print and opening a thousand tabs. In 2006, we launched our first comparison tool Credit Card Finder to help Australians stop overpaying on credit card interest. By 2009, we'd expanded into insurance and personal loans, making sure that no matter what life stage you were in, you had Finder in your corner to help you make better financial decisions.
2012 to 2016: One place for every deal
In 2012, we brought everything together under finder.com.au. We realised you weren't just looking for a credit card you were looking for better energy rates, cheaper mobile plans and more affordable health insurance.
In 2016, we launched the Finder Awards to recognise products and brands that genuinely deliver value to customers not based on advertising spend, but on independent research, product analysis and customer insight.
The awards made it easier to spot standout options in crowded markets, helping people cut through the noise and choose with confidence.
Our global launch: We took our Australian-born mission to the US in 2015 and the UK in 2017. Because having too many tabs is a global problem and everyone deserves a clearer path to better financial decisions.
2017 to 2020: Putting the power in your pocket
As the world went mobile, we made sure your financial health followed.
- 2017: Finder became Australia's most-visited comparison site, proving that when you put customers first, the community grows.
- 2018: Finder launched in Canada, bringing local comparison tools and content to Canadian consumers.
- 2018: We also launched Finder Ventures, a dedicated way to explore and build new financial products from the ground up. This hands-on experience including building products like Finder Earn deepened our understanding of emerging financial technologies.
- For customers, it meant clearer explanations, better comparisons and guidance grounded in real-world experience, not just theory.
- 2020: We launched the Finder app, giving you a free, real-time view of your credit score and alerts when a better deal becomes available. You didn't have to go looking anymore we brought the deals to you.
Around this time, we also launched one of our most popular tools: free credit score tracking. Australians could see their credit score in seconds, understand what it meant, and get alerts when it changed all at no cost. No paperwork. No fees. No guesswork.
2021 to 2024: Fighting for your finances
As the economy changed, we focused on helping you navigate new frontiers from cryptocurrency to rising interest rates.
In 2021, we secured major funding to build faster, smarter tools. We continued to go deeper than most researching, testing and challenging financial products so we could explain what really matters. That depth helps ensure you're not just seeing options, but understanding them.
Throughout this period, we remained committed to transparency, responsible innovation and operating within Australia's regulatory framework so you can trust the guidance you're getting, even as financial products evolve.
Around 2024, we introduced Finder Score: a simple way to see how products stack up overall, based on the depth of our research, analysis and years of comparison data.
Finder Score brings complex information together into a clear, easy-to-understand rating, so you don't have to weigh up dozens of features or decode fine print just to know what's worth your time.
2025: Find a better deal and get rewarded for it
By this point, Finder had grown beyond helping you switch. It was about helping you find a better deal and be rewarded for it.
These years marked a shift from one-off comparisons to ongoing value. With the launch of Finder Rewards, saving money became something you could see, track and benefit from every day.
In 2025, Finder's approach to building and explaining financial products was formally upheld, reinforcing our commitment to compliance and responsible innovation. For customers, it meant continued access to modern tools with the confidence they meet Australia's regulatory standards.

We also introduced Frankie, the friendly face of finding a better deal. Frankie represents dealscovery, that moment when you spot a better option and feel instantly rewarded. His bright, curious eyes capture the excitement of saving money, switching smarter or getting more value for what you already spend.

We started with a simple plan on a whiteboard (which we still have in our archives). Today, Finder is an independent research engine built to help people win at money and we're only getting more focused.
