Save all year round with this comprehensive calendar of Australian shopping events for 2023 and beyond.

If you've been holding off on purchasing that big-ticket item due to cost of living pressures, your patience is about to be rewarded.

Throughout the rest of this calendar year, some of Australia's biggest online sales events will be taking place, offering consumers a great opportunity to save money on a wide range of products.

You can therefore score some huge discounts by knowing when to shop.

We've rounded up the top sales events in Australia to help you save big on everything from fashion to electronics.

We've also included the best deals you can get right now.

April

  • Mid-autumn sale. As autumn sets in, many retailers will be offering sales on a variety of items including clothing, footwear and home decor. Look out for discounts both in-store and online throughout the month of April.

  • Easter sales. Easter is the dark horse of online shopping events with retailers running low-key promotions across the long weekend. In addition to chocolates and Easter gifts, you will be able to find online discounts on clothing, homewares, mattresses and more.

  • ANZAC Day sales. Some online retailers will be quietly offering deals to coincide with the public holiday (yep, nothing is sacred when it comes to online sales). Previous promotions over this period have included cheap flights and alcohol sales, although ANZAC branding is rarely used.

  • Vogue Online Shopping Night (VOSN). VOSN is a fashion-centric online sale that takes place twice per year in April and September. The first sale will kick off at midday on Tuesday 18 April and end at midnight on Wednesday 19 April.

  • Early end of financial year sales. While the end of the financial year is technically in June, many retailers start their EOFY sales in late April. This is a great time to buy big-ticket items like electronics and appliances, as well as clothing, furniture and homewares.

May

  • May Day sales. May Day is a sales event that coincides with the Labor Day public holiday in Queensland and the Northern Territory on 1 May.

  • Early end of financial year sales. While the end of the financial year is technically in June, many retailers start their EOFY sales in late April. This is a great time to buy big-ticket items like electronics and appliances, as well as clothing, furniture and homewares.

  • Mother's Day takes place on 14 May this year. You can expect some big discounts over the preceding weeks, particularly across fashion, beauty and homewares.

  • eBay Plus Weekend is an annual online shopping event exclusive to eBay Plus members, which typically runs for 7 days starting on a Friday. Last year's sale began on 24 May and ended on 31 May. Customers can expect a flat 20% discount on thousands of items, plus time-limited deals with up to 80% off. This year, eBay Plus Weekend will take place on May 25.

  • Click Frenzy Mayhem. The premier Click Frenzy sale takes place over 16-18 May.

June

  • EOFY sales. The end of financial year sale technically takes place on 30 June, but plenty of sales will be starting early and spilling over into the new month. Customers can expect sales on everything from home appliances and TVs to fashion and beauty products.

  • Winter sales. Retailers start looking to clear their stock to make way for the season ahead. Customers can expect big winter sales to start around mid-June through to the end of August.

  • Click Frenzy EOFY Showcase. The Click Frenzy EOFY Showcase sale takes place on 15 June and will offer up some excellent discounts in the lead-up to EOFY.

July

  • Amazon Prime Day. Amazon Prime Day is a huge deal in the US where the annual sales event rivals Black Friday. It is also gaining traction in Australia thanks to some seriously killer deals across gaming, homewares and tech. While the sale is chiefly aimed at Amazon Prime members, you can still grab deals even if you haven't subscribed to the service. In 2023, Prime Day will take place between 11-12 July. Head to Finder's Amazon Prime Day sales hub to see the best deals so far.

  • Christmas in July. Various online retailers will be capitalising on Yuletide celebrations with festive food, Christmas sweaters and popular gifts selling at reduced prices. The sales should kick off the week preceding 25 July.

August

  • Last-chance winter sales. Most fashion retailers will be slashing prices even further during August in a bid to get rid of their remaining winter stock. This is the smartest way to build a cheap winter wardrobe for 2024.

  • Afterpay Day. Afterpay Day is a Black Friday-esque sale run across multiple retailers with an emphasis on using the Afterpay platform, which lets customers pay off a purchase in 4 instalments. Customers can expect to score up to 80% off across fashion, homewares, tech, luxury brands and more during the sale. The next Afterpay Day sale will be in August. The next Afterpay Day sale will take place on August 17 to August 20.

September

  • Father's Day takes place on 3 September this year and customers can expect to see multiple dad-friendly sales in the preceding weeks, particularly across men's fashion and gadgets.

October

  • Amazon Prime Big Deal Days. Amazon is kicking off the end-of-year sales season with 65 hours of deals. The Prime Big Deal Says sale runs from October 10 to October 11.

  • Black Friday "early-bird" sales. Most major retailers will have their Black Friday online sales hubs up and running well before the official date in late November.

  • Vogue Fashion's Night Out. This is a one-day shopping event geared towards physical retail stores in the Sydney and Melbourne CBDs. The Sydney event takes place on 19 October with the Melbourne event following on 27 October.

  • Click Frenzy Main Event. Click Frenzy's last big sale event of the year will be taking place on October 24. The sale officially ends on October 26.

November

  • Singles' Day is an anti-Valentine's Day sale aimed at unattached customers, which is taking place on 11 November.

  • Diwali is a Hindu festival of lights that is a great time to pick up discounts on a fantastic range of consumer products. The festival itself lands on 11 November this year and customers can expect a week-long sale event in the lead-up to the celebration.

  • Cyber Monday will be taking place on 27 November this year. The event is all about online shopping. Customers can expect discounts on tech, gadgets and other popular products.

December

  • Green Monday. Hosted on the second Monday of December, Green Monday falls on 14 December in 2023. It is an important date for last-minute Christmas shoppers as it marks the cut-off for guaranteed delivery before Christmas. However, with improvements in shipping, this date has become somewhat blurred. Online retailers may offer discounts to entice shoppers during this time period.

  • Free Shipping Day. Australian retailers guarantee delivery before Christmas for online shoppers up until the Free Shipping Day. This day is scheduled for 15 December in 2022. Although the delivery guarantee is not as black and white as it once was, select retailers will offer free shipping on this day.

  • Boxing Day. Despite the growing popularity of Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day, Boxing Day remains one of Australia's biggest shopping events. It is an ideal time of year to find bargains on big-ticket items such as televisions and whitegoods. For those who prefer traditional shopping, this is one of the few sales on the list that will have a significant presence in physical stores. Circle 26 December on your shopping calendar.

  • New Year's Day sales. While nominally a January event, the new year shopping sales typically kick off immediately after Boxing Day with plenty of retailers extending their sales all the way through to 1 January.
