Our verdict

ANZ Plus offers a linked everyday and savings account with no monthly account fees. Plus, access digital tools and features to help you budget and save for different goals.

This is a unique two-in-one account bundle that gives you an everyday bank account and linked savings account in a dedicated mobile app that's just for these accounts. Having the 2 accounts side by side in your ANZ Plus app gives you good visibility over your everyday expenses and bills, alongside your savings goals. The app will show you how much you're spending month to month and how you're tracking against your savings goals.

The account has no monthly account keeping fees and you can set up your Visa Debit Card with Google Pay or Apple Pay to make secure contactless purchases. If you're planning to take this account travelling with you, there are overseas ATM fees when using ATMs owned by banks other than ANZ, and international transaction fees do apply.

Another thing to note is the ANZ Plus app is exclusively for these 2 accounts only, so if you've got another existing ANZ account you won't be able to see it in this app.

Pros

  • Linked bank account and savings account in one app
  • Automatic spending categorisation
  • No monthly account fees
  • In app coach messaging for account support

Cons

  • No access to ANZ branches
  • Overseas ATM fees apply when using an ATM not owned by ANZ
  • International transaction fees apply

Linked bank account and savings account

The ANZ Plus app comes with 2 linked accounts: an ANZ Plus everyday bank account and an ANZ Save account. The everyday account is your day-to-day account for spending and receiving payments, while your ANZ Save account pays interest on your balance to help you save.

You can move money between the 2 accounts easily and instantly in the app. You can't open these accounts separately, you'll get both when you download the ANZ Plus app.

No monthly fees

There are no monthly account keeping fees with the ANZ Plus account or the linked Save account, and no fees to download the app.

ANZ Plus Visa Debit Card

This account comes with a free ANZ Plus Visa Debit Card that's a sleek blue design, different to other ANZ cards you might have already. You can use the debit card in stores and online all around the world.

"I love that this app is separate to my other ANZ accounts which keeps my savings accumulating without the temptation to dip into it. I've set up numerous different savings goals from a new car fund to my daughter's dance fees which you can pick a cute emoji for. I find the tracker which shows how I'm going against my money goal very motivating. The app was so intuitive to set up - definitely one I share with friends. A very easy to use app that just makes my banking feel a bit less of a chore and a bit more fun."

I am not an Australian resident but I have a son who lives and works in Sydney, and I usually visit him 2 to 4 times annually. I want to open an account in an Australian bank. Will it be possible, using my son’s permanent address and my own phone number, which is not an Australian one?

Hi Vanir,

Most Australian bank accounts will require an Australian phone number in addition to an Australian address, plus ID (you can use a non-Australian passport). Most banks require you to be in the country to open the account.

You’d have to open an account when you visit and use a local phone number.

I am an existing ANZ customer, within my range of business accounts I have 2 accounts that act as savings accounts, one account I pay into weekly to cover my GST bill, the other I pay into to cover my mortgage, neither earn any interest and probably cost me money!! can you recommend an account where these savings can sit and earn interest until the funds are required. preferable at little or no cost to me.

Hi Garry,

Business accounts typically attract lower interest rates than personal savings accounts, although there are some that pay up to 4.75% as of today. You can review a range of options on business savings accounts here.

I see that a daily transfer OUT limit on the ANZ save Account is $5,000. How do I organise to increase this limit to a transfer limit of my choice ?

Hi Jukie,

$5,000 is the default limit.

1. Go to the Profile icon.

2. Tap on Payment Settings.

3. Select the limit you’d like to update.

I hope that helps.

If I open ANZ account with Visa debit card can I make card payment to the platfroms like Binance?

Hi Tomasz,

I suggest checking with ANZ directly if you are unsure about this. Some banks do limit the amount of money you can send to cryptocurrency platforms each month, and this may apply here.

So the anz save account comes with an everyday account linked to it. Are there any fees or requirements attached to the everyday account? Would it be a problem for my balance in the everyday account to be 0?

Would I be able to transfer money from a different bank to the save account?

Hi, there are no monthly account keeping fees on the everyday account (ANZ Plus). However, other fees and charges do apply for example international transaction fees and overseas ATM fees. You can first transfer money from an external bank account into the Plus account, then instantly move it from there into your Save account via the app.
