Our verdict

This is a savings account for customers under 17 designed to teach young Australians how to save money for later in life.

This account offers some interest on your balance and a great deal of flexibility. It's rare to find a savings account that allows complete day-to-day access to your balance, with no conditions. However, if you're under 18 you will be able to find a higher interest rate elsewhere in the market.

Pros

  • no minimum balance or deposit
  • no account keeping, management or annual fees
  • savings rewards, i.e. education grants and achievement awards
  • direct credits and debits to and from the account

Cons

  • Only for members under the age of 18

How the Finder Score helps you find a better savings account

The Finder Score is a simple score out of 10. The higher a savings account's score, the better we think it is for the average customer.

We score each savings account in our database of hundreds based on a data-driven methodology with 2 main criteria: Does the account offer a high interest rate? And is it easy for savers to actually earn that rate?
