Energy Australia Business Energy Review July 2024

Take advantage of fixed rate electricity and gas for your company with Energy Australia’s Total Plan Business.

Like any of the huge energy suppliers, Energy Australia has business-focused plans for companies, whether large or small. Apart from offering its signature Total Plan Business with fixed rates on power and gas, Energy Australia provides online account management and special support for your multi site business.

What plans are offered for small businesses?

Energy Australia keeps it simple with just a couple of plans for small businesses in NSW, VIC, SA, QLD and the ACT. While Energy Australia doesn't define what a small business is, the Australian Taxation Office defines it as having a turnover less than $10 million per year.

Electricity

Energy Australia has two power plans for small businesses in NSW, VIC, SA, QLD and the ACT.

Basic Business

Basic Business is Energy Australia's standing offer, selling variable rate electricity at the reference price. There are no discounts and no contracts.

Total Plan Business

This plan offers fixed rate electricity for a benefit period of 12 months. It includes a guaranteed discount for the same period, with no lock-in contract.

Gas

There are two gas plans available for businesses based in VIC, SA, NSW and the ACT.

Basic Business

The Basic Business plan provides natural gas at a variable rate with no other features. There is no benefit period and no discounts.

Total Plan Business

Offering fixed rate gas for a period of 12 months, Total Plan Business includes a guaranteed discount off your bill over the same period. Rates will become variable again after the 12 months have passed.

What plans are offered for large businesses?

Like most energy providers, Energy Australia doesn't publish a standard set of plans for large businesses. Instead, you have to contact them via this online form or by calling them on 1300 362 466 to request a quote.

Energy Australia also maintains a list of large business energy brokers that it tends to work with. These are brokers it has judged competitive and offering fair value to their customers.

What tools does Energy Australia offer specifically for businesses?

  • Business Carbon Neutral. Businesses can sign up to this program for an extra fee on their power bills. In return, Energy Australia will purchase carbon offsets for all the electricity your business uses.
  • Online account management. Business customers can use Energy Australia's online portal to manage their account 24/7, download tax invoices, and view or pay their bills.
  • Large business account portal. Large business customers have their own special online account portal, where they can access more tools than small businesses or residential customers.
  • Multi-site management. Businesses with 10 or more sites get tailored account management, consolidated billing for all their premises, plus consumption reports to help spot variations in usage and more.
