Hi Savio,

Yes, the Bendigo Bank Qantas Platinum Credit Card offers complimentary rental vehicle excess insurance up to a maximum of $5,500 when the entire rental cost is charged to the credit card. The cover starts when you take possession of the vehicle.

The Bendigo Bank Credit Card Insurance Terms and Conditions effective from 30 November 2022 (pdf), has full details of this cover and the other complimentary insurances offered on this card. I hope that helps.

I don’t understand “balance transfers.” Could you explain, please?

Hi Ray,

Thanks for getting in touch with Finder. I hope all is well with you. 😃

Balance transfers could actually help you pay off debt because it gives you a time frame where you don’t earn interest on your balance. A balance transfer allows you to move your existing credit card debt to a new credit card with a lower or 0% rate of interest.

You may refer to our list of balance transfer offers. As you would see on the page, the length of the promotional period can vary from 6 to 36 months. Once the introductory period ends, any remaining balances will start to collect interest at the standard purchase or cash advance rate.

See how balance transfer works. Our guide will also tell you how a balance transfer can help you pay off your debt.

I hope this helps. Should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out again.

Have a wonderful day!

Cheers,

Joshua

Do any of Bendigo Bank’s Platinum credit cards allow complementary travel insurance if you only pay a minimum set amount on your credit card i.e. if you have paid a deposit or can you pay the rest on total of travel balance? Do any of the platinum credit cards allow you to pay a minimum part of your trip for their complementary travel insurance?

Hi Ray,

Thank you for getting in touch with Finder.

Not all Bendigo Bank’s credit cards have complimentary travel insurance like Bendigo Bank Low Rate Platinum Mastercard and Bendigo Bank Low Rate First Mastercard. Bendigo Bank credit card insurance is underwritten by Allianz Global. The cover is effective where the total value of the return overseas travel ticket for your journey was obtained prior to the commencement of your journey and was charged to your eligible Bendigo Bank credit card account. The use of frequent flyers or reward-type points does not activate cover.

If you’re looking a credit cards with complimentary travel insurance, you can use our comparison table to compare credit cards by looking at their fees as well as their terms and rates. Once you’ve chosen a card, you may click on the “Go to site” to be redirected to their official page where you can check more details or even start your application.

Please make sure though to read the eligibility criteria, features, and details of the card, as well as the relevant PDS/ T&Cs of the card before making a decision and consider whether the product is right for you.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Cheers,

Jeni

When does the travel insurance start from – the date I buy the ticket or the date I fly? My wife and I are going to Europe on 30th April 2019, for 6 months, but I intend buying tickets in the next couple of weeks.

Hello Robin,

Thank you for your comment.

According to the Bendigo Credit Card Insurance terms and conditions, the cover is effective where the total value of the return overseas travel ticket for your journey was obtained prior to the commencement of your journey and was charged to your credit card account.

Hence, it begins after you purchase the ticket using the said card.

I want to purchase bulk products from a Chinese manufacturer and to pay with a credit card. How can I pay them with a credit card and will it get charged as a cash advance or legitimate purchase?

Hi Kwozzy,

Thank you for leaving a question.

If you are paying the purchase by using the credit card directly then this would be taken against your credit limit which would make it a normal purchase. If you withdraw the cash from an ATM to pay the manufacturer then it is considered a cash advance. You may be able to pay the manufacturer if he has an EFTPOS machine where you may be able to swipe the card to make the payment. The Manufacturer may also have a way to have you pay securely online but you may need to contact them to confirm if they have this available. Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Reggie
