What is Airwallex?

Airwallex Borderless Cards give you a way to manage business spending and avoid foreign transaction fees. You can load 10 different currencies onto the account – including US dollars, Euros and British pounds – which can help you save on international transaction fees and simplify your budgeting. You can also set up virtual and physical cards that your employees can use to make purchases in multiple currencies.

Right now, you can also get 10% cashback on your first US$1,000 equivalent of eligible international card spending when you apply through the promotional link as a new customer. You can also use these cards together with other Airwallex products, including the Airwallex Global Account.

Key features

  • 10% cashback offer. If you're a new Airwallex customer in Australia, you'll get 10% cashback on the first US$1,000 equivalent of international card spending. This includes spending in any of the supported currencies on the card, as long as it adds up to an equivalent total of US$1,000. You also need to apply through the promotional link during the offer period to be eligible.
  • Airwallex Grow plan promotion. Customers can take out a free 1-month trial of an Airwallex Grow Plan and unlock a 50% discount on the plan for 6 months. Valid until December 31st, 2024.
  • Load and spend in multiple currencies. You can track expenses accurately and save on international transaction fees by loading funds in the currencies you and your employees use. The supported currencies on this card include:
    • Australian dollar (AUD)
    • Singapore dollar (SGD)
    • Hong Kong dollar (HKD)
    • British pound (GBP)
    • United States dollar (USD)
    • Euro (EUR)
    • Japanese yen (JPY)
    • Canadian dollar (CAD)

  • Virtual and physical employee cards. Airwallex Borderless Cards for employees can be set up in moments through your account, with a choice of virtual and physical cards.
  • Virtual company cards. You can also set up company cards for business transactions that are typically made online on behalf of the company. For example, software subscriptions and supply payments.
  • Custom limits. You can manage the spending limits on the account and individual cards through your Airwallex account. By default, the limit is USD$50,000 or equivalent (unless you have less than that loaded on the account).
  • Expenses. Get access to this tool that helps you track expenses, with the ability to upload receipts directly to the account.

Fees

  • Employee cards. Monthly fees start at $29 per month up to $499+ for larger businesses. The $29 plan includes 2 employee cards added to your Airwallex Borderless Card account, and this fee is waived to $0/month if you deposit at least $5k per month or hold a minimum balance of $10,000.
  • Additional employee cards. These are $15/user each month for additional employee cards on the Explore Plan. A different pricing and usage model applies on the Grow plan and above, with 50+ company cards and multiple users included.
  • Automatic conversion fee. If you pay in a currency that's not loaded on your Airwallex Borderless Card, a 1% fee will apply to the transaction.
  • SWIFT transfer fees. Transfer money to 150+ countries by SWIFT and pay $10-30 per transfer.
  • Other fees. Keep in mind that there may be other fees depending on how you manage the account and the other Airwallex services you use.

How to apply

You can sign up to any of the pricing plans to access the Airwallex Borderless Business Card. To get started, check you meet the eligibility requirements and have all the documents and details needed to complete the application.

Eligibility

  • New customer. You need to be a new Airwallex AU customer to be eligible for the cashback offer.
  • Business requirements. You must be the owner or director of the business, and you will need to provide a valid ABN or ACN number.
  • Minimum age. You must be at least 18 years old to apply for this account.

Documentation needed

  • Business details. This includes your business name, ABN or ACN and email address.
  • Personal details. You also need to provide your name and other basic details to set up the account.
  • Identification. New Airwallex customers will need to provide two forms of ID, including an Australian passport, a driver's license or a Medicare card.
