Hello sk,
If you are making an immigration visa payment directly to the government this won’t count as an eligible purchase. If you’re making a payment to a migration agent and not using BPAY, it could be eligible. But it depends how Citi interprets the payment. According to the terms and conditions: “Please note that whether or not a transaction is an Eligible Transaction will be determined based on information provided either by the merchant or the relevant financial institution (including information about the type of business conducted by the merchant). This means that, for example, spend with certain merchants may be characterised as spend with a government related entity and therefore not an Eligible Transaction, even if that merchant is not in fact a government related entity.”

I’ve just noticed that Citi has taken over my NAB. If I’m already an NAB customer and I get a Citi Credit card, am I still a “new customer” in the eyes of Citi Bank when it comes to their Qantas points eligibility?
Thanks!

Hi William, Citi’s terms and conditions don’t appear to specify this – but it is usually the case that bonus points won’t be offered to customers if they’ve had a similar bonus points offer from a related bank (NAB in this case) in the past. So if you’ve had a bonus sign-up offer from NAB, you probably wouldn’t qualify – but if you only had an NAB transaction account, you might. To find out what applies, you’ll need to ask Citi directly – you can contact Citi on 13 24 84. Hope this helps!

How long between cards do you need before you can receive the bonus QFF points? Thanks

Hi Jim,
I hope that I’ve understood your questions correctly. Once approved for the Citi Premier Qantas credit card, you’ll need to spend $4,000 within the first 90 days from card approval to receive the 100,000 bonus Qantas Points and these will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership account within 8 weeks of meeting the spend criteria.
You’re eligible for the 100,000 bonus Qantas Points if you have never held this card, even if you are a past or existing Citibank customer.
Cheers,
Chris

– you must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program and provide your membership number to Citibank.
I hope this helps.

Am I eligible for the 100,000 points if I opt for the balance transfer, pay off the balance transfer immediately within the 1st month and spend $5000 within first 90 days? Also, if I pay the annual fee of $444 for the 2nd year and decide to close the card am I eligible for refund of annual fee prorate?

Hi Kenneth,
Thank you for your question. You will receive 100,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend a minimum of A$5,000 on your Citi Premier Qantas Card within 90 days from approval. Please note that this is for eligible transactions only. Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, refunds, chargebacks, Special Promotions and spend on a Linked Diners Club Card do not contribute to the spend threshold.
In regard to the prorated annual fee refund, there’s no confirmation from the Citi website if they’re still doing this if you decide you want to close the credit card. You may need to contact Citi directly to confirm this.
Please make sure to read the eligibility criteria, features and details of the policy, as well as the relevant Product Disclosure Statement PDS/T&C’s of the policy before making a decision and consider whether the product is right for you. If necessary, speak to the insurance brand to verify any details.
Regards,
Jhezelyn

I am planning to spend $5000 to pay immigration payment. Does this count as eligible purchases?
