The Commonwealth Bank is one the Big Four Banks in Australia and one of the largest credit card issuers in the country. It gives you a choice of cards that range from low rate and low fee to rewards cards, business and corporate credit cards. But the bank does not offer balance transfers on any of its credit cards.
We currently don't have a partnership for that product, but we have other similar offers to choose from (how we picked these
):
Types of CommBank credit cards
CommBank low rate credit cards
The CommBank Low Rate Credit Card offers a purchase interest rate that varies between 10.99% p.a. to 15.99% p.a. In comparison, the average standard credit card rate in Australia is currently 20.99% p.a. according to Finder analysis of Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) data.
CommBank low fee credit cards
The CommBank Low Fee Credit Card charges a $3 monthly fee, which adds up to $36 each year. But this fee will be waived if you spend $300 per month.
CommBank Awards credit cards
A CommBank Awards credit card offers $1 on your eligible spending, which covers most everyday shopping, dining out and travel bookings. You can redeem these points for rewards including travel, cashback on your account and to pay for purchases with Myer and Flight Centre. You can also transfer points to partnered frequent flyer programs, including Velocity Frequent Flyer and Emirates Skywards.
Want to earn Qantas Points instead of CommBank Awards points? When you get a CommBank Smart Awards or Ultimate Awards credit card, you can opt-in to earn Qantas Points instead of CommBank Awards points. There is a $90 yearly fee for choosing the Qantas Points option, and you'll need to provide your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership details. After that, the points will automatically be transferred to your frequent flyer account at regular intervals.
CommBank no interest credit card
The CommBank Neo Card doesn't charge any interest. Instead, it has a monthly fee of $15, $20 or $25 that's based on your credit limit. If you don't use the card or carry a balance, the monthly fee is also waived. It also gives you access to CommBank Yello Cashback Offers and can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
CommBank small business credit cards
The range of CBA credit cards for small businesses include low rate, interest-free days and Awards options. There is also a CommBank Neo Business Card that charges no interest and a monthly fee instead.

Credit card brands similar to CommBank
If you want to compare CommBank credit cards to those from other lenders, you could consider the other Big Banks in Australia:
Commonwealth Bank Awards do not expire, as long as you are a member of the program. If you close your CommBank Awards credit card account, you'll have 3 months to use your points before they expire.
If you have a Commonwealth Bank Awards credit card, you earn Commonwealth Bank Awards points when you make an eligible purchase. Eligible purchases include everyday transactions such as buying your groceries or filling your car up with petrol. Points are not awarded for cash transactions including cash advances, paying government fees and charges, and credit card fees and charges.
CommBank Yello Cashback Offers is a loyalty program available to eligible credit card and debit card customers who have the CommBank app.
CommBank Awards is a credit card loyalty program that offers eligible credit card customers points per $1 spent. If you have a CommBank Awards credit card, you'll have access to both programs.
You'll get access to CommBank Yello Cashback Offers if you're over 18 years of age and have an eligible CommBank Mastercard. This includes personal debit card, credit card and business credit card accounts that are not in default. It excludes prepaid cards (including the Travel Money card), corporate credit cards and business debit cards.
You can use the steps below to view and activate CommBank Yello Cashback Offers program through the CommBank app:
Log in to the CommBank app.
Go to "Products & Offers", then select "Rewards".
Browse the current offers and click on the "Activate" button to claim the offer.
Use your eligible card to meet the spend requirements at participating stores. Note that you need to tap or select credit when you use your card.
The annual or monthly fee is charged to your credit card and added to your account balance. So if you don't repay your balance in full by the end of the statement period, interest will be applied to the remaining balance. So that could include the cost of the monthly or annual fee.
The Commonwealth Bank no longer accepts balance transfers on its credit cards. You cannot transfer an unpaid card balance from another bank onto a new Commonwealth Bank card.
You can close your CommBank credit card account through the CommBank app or NetBank in the card management or account section. Choose the "Close account" option and then follow the prompts.
Just keep in mind that you'll need to pay the total amount owing on the card – including any interest or fees – before you can fully close the account. You should also check that there are no pending transactions. You can also cancel your card or discuss your account by calling Commonwealth Bank on 13 22 21 or by visiting a Commonwealth Bank branch.
Before leaving for your holiday, make sure you've covered all of these bases:
Make sure you know your PIN. Many places require PIN verification rather than a signature, so you should make sure you have set up and memorised the PIN for your CBA card.
Tell CommBank you are travelling overseas. Before traveling overseas, log in to Netbank and let CommBank know your plans. This will help protect your account security while you're away.
Activate your travel insurance. If your Commonwealth Bank credit card offers included travel insurance, make sure you activate your policy through NetBank before you leave. And if you need to make a claim, call +61 2 8907 5641.
Take note of the emergency contact details. When you're overseas, you can lock, block or limit transactions on your Commonwealth Bank credit card through NetBank or the CommBank app. You can also cancel the card and request a new one. If you want to speak to someone from Commonwealth Bank when you're overseas, call +61 2 9999 3283.

Finder makes money from featured partners, but editorial opinions are our own.
Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
