New research from American Express has highlighted some of the ways that younger generations of Australians are looking to enjoy life, while still aiming for financial freedom.

In a survey of 1,500 Australians aged between 24 and 35 years*, more than half opt for 'little treats' on a weekly basis such as eating out (60%), purchasing a new piece of clothing (47%) or ordering a takeaway drink (45%).

With considerations like this in mind, American Express has launched the American Express Essential Rewards Credit Card with an eye on Millennial and Gen Z consumers.

With a huge range of rewards – including dining, retail, and streaming benefits – the American Express Essential Rewards Credit Card has already been Finder Verified as Australia's most rewarding card for eats and drinks.

Finder's Consumer Sentiment Tracker is a live, nationally represented study of the Australian public. Finder has analysed 95 cards affiliated with a rewards program and converted the points earned based on the average spend each month, into a dollar value, by redeeming the points earned for a $100 grocery store card. Excludes ongoing fees. Verification as of 1 July 2024.
