If you have an existing credit card debt with a bank other than St.George, BankSA or Bank of Melbourne, choosing a St.George credit card with an introductory low or 0% balance transfer rate can help you save on interest and pay off the debt faster.

St.George low rate credit cards
The St.George Vertigo credit card offers a low interest rate on purchases and competitive annual fee. This card can help you save on interest charges if you carry a balance from month-to-month and want to cut down on standard card costs.
St.George no annual fee cards

If you need more time while you're filling in the application, you can also save it and finish it any time within 30 days from when you started it.
Information and documents you need to apply
St.George credit card applications are made up of a mix of basic, personal details and information that's specific to how you earn income and your other financial responsibilities. This includes the following:
Personal information. This includes your full name, date of birth, address and contact details. You also need to provide a valid form of ID, such as your driver’s licence, Medicare card, Passport, Australian birth certificate or NSW Photo Card (if relevant).
Employment information. This includes your employment status, occupation, income and your employer's contact details. You may also need to provide recent payslips or other proof of income.
If you're self-employed. Provide details of your most recent tax statements and your accountant's contact information.
Financial information. As well as income from any other sources, you need to include details of any other assets, savings or investments. You also need to provide information about any debts you have, such as existing credit cards or loans, and regular expenses. If you have earned money overseas, you'll also need to provide details of your foreign tax details.
Have a question about the application? Call St.George on 13 33 30 and someone will be able to help you through the process.
Credit card details
During the application, you'll be asked about details of your new St.George credit card. The two key details to look at are the following:
Credit limit. If you have a credit limit in mind for the credit card, you can include a request for that amount as part of the application. Just keep in mind that this is subject to St.George's lending criteria and assessment, and in some cases the actual limit you get could be lower than the one you requested.
Balance transfers. If you're moving a debt to a new St.George credit card with a 0% balance transfer rate, you need to include the account details and the amount of debt you want to transfer. Note that the balance transfer is approved separately and the amount that's transferred depends on the credit limit you get for your new St.George card.
What happens after you apply?
You'll get an initial response within 60 seconds of submitting your application online, and someone from St.George will contact you if any more details are needed.
If you're approved, you'll usually get your new credit card in the mail. Note that you may need to get the card from a branch if St.George needs to verify your ID, but you'll be told by St.George if that's the case.
Frequently asked questions
If you have a question about a new or existing St.George credit card, you can call the bank on 13 33 30 between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday.
For lost, stolen or misplaced cards, you can call 1800 028 028 from Australia, or +612 9155 7800 from overseas. Alternatively, you could contact St.George via online chat through the St.George website, or manage your account through Internet and Mobile Banking.
If you have an existing debt on a credit card from another bank, you can request a balance transfer when you apply for a new St.George credit card. If the card and the balance transfer are approved, St.George will arrange to transfer the balance from your old account to the new card once you have activated it. Note that you cannot transfer debts from existing St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA cards.
Allow up to 14 days for St.George to complete a balance transfer request. If you are a new customer, the balance transfer request will only be processed after you complete an identification check at a St.George branch and activate your card.
You can transfer a minimum of $200 and up to 80% of your approved credit limit to a new St.George credit card.
Yes, if you have debt on an existing card from another bank, you can request a balance transfer onto your current St.George credit card. Note that any balance transfer request you make will be subject to St.George's lending criteria and approval. As with introductory balance transfers, you also won't be able to move debt if it's on an existing St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA card.
Yes, you can switch between the Amplify Rewards and the Amplify Qantas rewards programs at any time. Just get in touch with St.George Bank and ask for a Program Switch Request form.
If you have a St.George credit card that earns rewards, you'll earn points for most everyday purchases. This includes shopping at the supermarket, retail stores, petrol stations and at restaurants or online stores. But transactions that are not eligible to earn points include balance transfers, BPAY transactions and cash advances (including getting cash out). Refer to the Amplify and Amplify Qantas rewards card terms and conditions booklet available on the St.George website for full details of what transactions will and won't earn points.
You must repay at least 2% of your total balance or $10 (whichever is greater) by the due date on each statement period.

Important information about this website
Finder makes money from featured partners, but editorial opinions are our own.
Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
