Our verdict

This platinum rewards card offers up to 80,000 bonus Qantas Points, a discounted first-year annual fee and complimentary insurance, but not many other frequent flyer perks.

The Westpac Altitude Qantas Platinum credit card has an ongoing earn rate of 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent. If you apply as a new customer by 30 April 2025, you’ll get 60,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend $4,000 on eligible purchases in the first 90 days. And an additional 20,000 points after the first eligible purchase has been made in the second year (80,000 bonus points total). That's enough for two return economy flights from Sydney to Auckland (72,000 points) or a return business class flight from Melbourne to Brisbane (55,200 points) – with points to spare. You could also redeem your points for $375 worth of David Jones digital gift cards (a total of 75,200 points for one $250 gift card, two $50 gift cards and a $25 gift card).

Pros

  • Up to 80,000 bonus Qantas Points offer
  • $124 (includes $75 Qantas Rewards fee) first-year annual fee for existing customers
  • Complimentary international travel insurance

Cons

  • $75 annual Qantas Rewards fee (on top of the annual card fee)
  • $250 annual fee after the first year ($175 card fee and $75 Qantas rewards fee)
  • 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent is relatively low
