Our verdict
Crypto meets Visa - Earn rewards and pay no annual fees. Here's what you need to know about the Crypto.com card.
Crypto.com offers cards with no annual fees. The app is simple to use and a great place to start for novice crypto traders. The biggest downfall of the Crypto.com Visa card is its tiered structure. While it does offer up to 5% CRO back on all purchases and reimbursements on popular subscriptions, these benefits aren't applicable to most members.
To receive the full rewards, you must be an Obsidian card holder with AUD$500,000 of CRO staked. This is an impractical sum of money for most people to invest, let alone lock up via staking.
Since the Crypto.com card is prepaid and cannot be linked directly to a bank account, it may not be the perfect choice for everyone. However, with Visa payments accepted globally, the Crypto.com card could be a good option for travelling or putting aside crypto investments.

How does the Crypto.com Visa card work?
The Crypto.com card is a prepaid Visa card and works in much the same way as any regular prepaid card. The key difference being that you can top up your account with cryptocurrencies or through a bank transfer.
Main benefits of the Crypto.com Visa card
- Free subscriptions. Get reimbursed for subscriptions on platforms such as Netflix and Spotify.

- Deposits and withdrawals. Easily transfer funds to and from your crypto wallet or bank account.
- Visa partnership. Use your Crypto.com card for in-store or online purchases anywhere Visa is accepted.
- Spending rewards. CRO rewards of up to 5% on every purchase are deposited directly into your Crypto.com wallet.
Main drawbacks of the Crypto.com Visa card
- ATM withdrawal fees. Monthly ATM withdrawals are capped at AUD$1,000 for high-end cardholders and AUD$200 for basic members. Withdrawals over these amounts incur a 2% fee.
- CRO staking. To receive the full 5% CRO rewards and card benefits package, you must be an Obsidian card holder with AUD$500,000 of CRO staked.
- Basic card holders receive minimal benefits. Crypto.com incentivises CRO staking. If you opt not to stake CRO tokens, you will not receive any benefits.
- No desktop support. All transfers and withdrawals must be completed through the Crypto.com app or by using the physical card.
How does it compare to a traditional debit card?
Crypto.com only offers prepaid cards. Unlike debit cards, prepaid cards cannot be directly linked to your bank account and need to be topped up manually. Top-ups can be completed via credit or debit card deposits or through cryptocurrency transfers.
How experienced do you need to be with crypto to use the Crypto.com Visa card?
Crypto.com Visa cards are suitable for all crypto users. Being able to transact with crypto and fiat currency makes the app particularly beginner-friendly, as there is no need to worry about DeFi exchanges or private keys.
What cryptocurrencies can I use with the Crypto.com Visa card?
Crypto.com supports the buying and selling of over 250 cryptocurrencies. Payments can be made through any Visa merchant. However, your crypto must first be converted to fiat currency in the app.
Is the Crypto.com Visa card safe? What are the risks?
- All cryptocurrencies are held in offline cold storage
- Transactions are screened for compliance
- Fiat currencies are held in regulated bank accounts and covered by commercial bank insurance
Although Crypto.com adheres to strict security guidelines, there is still an inherent risk involved with holding or trading digital assets. Crypto phishing scams are common, so make sure to always double-check digital transfers and only transact through the official Crypto.com app.
Where can you use the Crypto.com Visa card?
You can use your Crypto.com card anywhere that a Visa debit card is accepted. However, some merchants and subscription-based platforms require that a credit card is held on file and will not accept the Crypto.com card for payment.
