Launched in 2021, Phantom was launched by founder and CEO Brandon Millman as a Web3 and cryptocurrency company.

The Phantom Wallet is a software, self-custodial wallet that is available on Android and iOS and as a browser extension for Google Chrome, Brave, Edge and Firefox.

It is now one of the most popular software wallets in the world, with more than 7 million monthly active users.

The company has also raised hundreds of millions of dollars in venture capital to become the "world's biggest consumer finance platform."

How to install Phantom Wallet

On mobile

You can install Phantom Wallet on your Apple or Android smartphone via the App Store or Play Store. Simply search your app store for "Phantom wallet" and download.

Once it has been installed, you can then import your existing crypto wallet or create a new one.

On desktop

You can download the Phantom Wallet extension on the Chrome, Brave, Edge or Firefox browsers.

Head to the Phantom website, select your browser and install it via the link. Like on mobile, you can choose to import your existing wallet or create a new one.

Important: When creating a new wallet, it is extremely important that you record your recovery phrase and put it somewhere secure. Never share your wallet password or recovery phrase with anyone.

How to add cryptocurrency to Phantom

  1. Select "Receive"
  2. Choose the network you want to send tokens on
  3. Copy the wallet address
  4. Use this wallet address to send tokens from an exchange or other wallet

Make sure you're using the correct network for the tokens you're looking to send so you don't lose them.

Which networks does Phantom support?

Phantom now supports many of the most popular cryptocurrency networks:

What fees does Phantom charge?

Whenever you submit a transaction, you'll need to pay a network transaction fee (also known as a gas fee). This fee will vary based on the network you're using and how busty the network is at the time of the transaction.

However, this fee does not go to Phantom but the validators of the network (such as Bitcoin miners).

Phantom lets you set limits on the maximum gas fees you're happy to pay, but please note if you set these limits too low your transaction may not be processed.

If you use the Phantom Wallet to swap between tokens directly, Phantom will charge a 0.85% fee on top of any network fees.

Is Phantom safe?

Phantom includes a number of security features to better protect users and their funds.

It has been independently audited and does not track any personal information or balances.

Phantom will automatically flag suspicious transactions and keep you up-to-date on potential phishing sites via its open source blocklist. You can also report, hide and burn spam NFTs.

Like with any self-custodial wallet, it's ultimately up to you to keep your funds secure by never giving out your password or recovery phrase. You should also never interact with a dApp without first confirming that it's legitimate.

Phantom customer support

Phantom offers 24/7 support via its online chat bot.
