CovaU Energy review

CovaU Energy is a smaller retailer that operates in NSW, VIC, SA, QLD, the ACT and TAS. It does well for offering multiple customer support options and access to its rewards store.

On the plans front, CovaU generally offers 2 plans for electricity and gas in each state where applicable. The Basic plan is best avoided since it tends to be more expensive.

If you don't see plans for your state listed in our table it can mean 1 of 2 things. CovaU is either not signing up new customers or it hasn't released information to the government website where we source our information from.

Make sure to always compare CovaU's plans against other electricity and gas providers to see if it's offering the best rates for your household.

Pros

  • Option for live chat available
  • Access to CovaU Reward for discounts and specials offers from 4,500+ businesses

Is CovaU Energy environmentally friendly?

Green Electricity Guide rating: 4.14/10

CovaU ranked 26th (out of 47 providers) in the 2022 Green Electricity Guide rankings published by Greenpeace.

Although it supports household solar, the retailer received low scores for not having an active stance on strong climate policy and not being transparent about where its electricity comes from.

GreenPower
The good news is CovaU offers a GreenPower add-on. This is a government initiative which allows households to offset their carbon emissions.

When you opt in, the retailer will match anywhere between 25% and 100% of your power usage with renewable energy.
