The best technology brands in Australia: 2023 Finder Retail Awards

We reveal Australia's favourite technology brands for 2023.

The Finder Retail Awards recognises Australia's favourite brands across more than 100 retail categories. We survey thousands of real Australians to understand how they feel about their recent product purchases, and use that information to reward the most popular brands.

These are the best brands for technology in the 2023 Awards.

Best computer monitor brand

Best-rated computer monitor brand: Apple

Apple monitors aren't cheap but as the adage goes, you get what you pay for – and Aussie customers agree that its monitors are the best in the market. At the 2023 Finder Awards, Apple took out the top slot in the computer monitor category with excellent scores across performance, features and image quality. 96% of people we surveyed recommended the brand.

Best-rated dash cam brand

Best-rated dash cam brand: Blackvue

Blackvue came recommended by 96% of customers surveyed when it comes to its dash cams. The brand received great scores in all categories, allowing it to take the win over bigger players such as Navman and Garmin.

Best-rated desktop brand

Best-rated desktop computer brand: Apple

At this year's Finder Customer Satisfaction Awards, Apple was crowned the best desktop computer brand for its range of popular Mac products. Apple received an overall recommendation rating of 94% with surveyed customers praising their performance and ease of use.

Best-rated drone brand

Best-rated drone brand: DJI

DJI has been crowned the best drone brand in Australia at this year's Finder Awards. It received the highest overall scores for performance and ease of use and equal-highest for features and design. DJI was also recommended more than any other drone brand, with an overall rating of 98%.

Best rated camera Brand

Best-rated camera brand: Canon

The best-rated camera brand in this year's Finder Awards was Canon, a feat it also pulled off in the 2022 Awards. Canon topped the scores for image quality, ease of use, features and value for money. 96% of surveyed customers recommended the brand.

Best-rated headphones brand

Best-rated headphones brand: Bose

Bose has taken out the 2023 Finder Award for best headphone brand, ending 2 years of dominance by rival manufacturer Beats by Dre. Bose topped the awards scoreboard for sound quality, design and breadth of features. It was recommended by 91% of surveyed customers.

Best-rated keyboard brand

Best-rated keyboard brand: Apple

Apple is this year's winner for best keyboard brand courtesy of an overall recommendation rating of 94% and strong scores for performance and ease of use. Apple beat out more than 20 other brands to take the crown which is a testament to its enduring loyalty.

Best-rated laptop brand: Apple

If you're looking for a new computer, Apple has been rated as the best laptop brand in Australia for its range of MacBooks. It scored well for performance, ease of use and features/design. It was recommended by an impressive 97% of surveyed Australians.

Best-rated mouse brand

Best-rated mouse brand: Logitech

Whether you're battling 3D soldiers or 2D spreadsheets, a good mouse can make all the difference. Logitech was the go-to choice for customers we surveyed with an overwhelming 98% of respondents recommending this mouse brand. It received impressively high scores across all metrics.

Best mobile phone brand

Best-rated mobile phone brand: Apple

It should come as no surprise that the phenomenally popular iPhone has been crowned Australia's favourite mobile phone brand at the 2023 Finder Awards. Apple smashed the competition for performance, design and ease of use. 97% of surveyed customers gave Apple phones their wholehearted recommendation.

Best printer brand

Best-rated printer brand: Canon

Canon has been named Australia's best printer brand at the 2023 Finder Awards. With an overall rating of 94%, Canon was recommended more than any other printer brand in our survey. It received high scores for performance and ease of use.

Best projector brand

Best-rated projector brand: Samsung

Samsung might not be the first brand you think of when it comes to projectors, but maybe that will soon change. In the 2023 Finder Customer Satisfaction Awards, Samsung outscored the likes of LG, Epson, Viewsonic, Benq and Hisense to be named Australia's best projector brand. Samsung projectors performed exceptionally well across all scoring metrics and were recommended by 94% of respondents.

Best-rated router brand: Google

Google was the number 1 router brand in the 2023 Finder Awards, besting D-link, Eero, Netgear, TP-Link and more. It proved to be a solid all-rounder, receiving great scores in every area. Combined with its impressive recommendation rating of 96%, Google was the clear winner in this category.

Best-rated headphones brand

Best-rated speaker brand: Ultimate Ears

While better known for its professional in-ear monitors (IEMs), Ultimate Ears has begun to make a splash in the consumer audio market thanks to its portable speaker range. In this year's Finder Awards, Ultimate Ears managed to outscore more than 30 audio manufacturers to claim the title of best speaker brand in Australia. An astonishing 100% of surveyed customers recommended this brand for its outstanding sound quality.

Best TV Brand 2021

Best-rated tablet brand: Samsung

In a dark-horse result, Samsung outranked both Apple and Microsoft to be crowned the best tablet brand of 2023. Customers praised Samsung tablets for their battery life, value for money and overall performance. The brand received a perfect recommendation score of 100%.

Best TV Brand 2021

Best-rated TV brand: Samsung

Samsung has continued its unbroken run as Australia's favourite TV brand. It scored highly across the board, while also receiving a 93% recommendation rating from its customers. Samsung TVs performed particularly strongly in the areas of image quality, ease of use and overall design.

Best VR headset brand

Best-rated VR headset brand: Meta (Oculus)

The headset formerly known as Oculus has taken out this year's Finder Award for best VR headset brand. It was recommended by an impressive 94% of surveyed users and topped the rating pillars for performance and ease of use – arguably the 2 most important factors when it comes to immersive virtual reality.

How we chose the winners

The Finder Retail Awards recognises brand sentiment from customer feedback on different retail product categories. Finder worked with data and insights company, Dynata to conduct thousands of customer interviews around their product purchasing history and satisfaction with their purchased products.
