The Finder Retail Awards recognises Australia's favourite brands across a huge number of categories. We survey thousands of real Australians to understand how they feel about their recent product purchases, and use that information to reward the most popular brands.

Best rated supermarket hot cross bun brand: Costco
Hopping into top place, Costco emerged victorious in the hot cross bun wars this year. Landing top marks for both taste and value for money made it a no-brainer for any Easter eggstravaganza.

Australia's love affair with Cadbury continues, with the brand scoring top marks for taste as voted by everyday consumers. The brand also scored well on value for money making it an eggcellent choice this Easter.

With the highest scores for taste, range of options and value for money, John West has been rated as the best tinned tuna brand in Australia. It was recommended by 98% of surveyed Australians.

Australians rated Coles as the best brand for Smoked Salmon in this year's Finder Awards. Coles topped the list for value for money, while also ranking well for taste and range.

For the best fresh salmon brand in Australia, you can't go past Huon Premium, which was recommended by 93% of people surveyed in this year's Finder Awards.

The best brand for frozen fish is Top Hat, as rated by Australians in this year's Finder Awards. The brand topped the chart for range and scored well for taste and value for money.

In a tightly contested category, Nestlé has been awarded the Finder Award for best rated cereal brand this year. Nestlé was rated highly for taste and recommended by 97% of surveyed Aussies.

Green & Black's chocolate was recommended by a whopping 100% of Finder Awards respondents who praised its taste, range of flavours and value for money.

When judged on aroma, taste and texture, Lazzio from ALDI was declared the best coffee bean in our poll. It also scored highly for value for money.

Best rated tomato sauce brand: Fountain
The Aussie staple Fountain was crowned Australia's favourite tomato sauce brand, beating out sauce juggernauts Heinz and Masterfoods in the categories of value for money and ease of use. It also received a 98% recommended rating, the highest score of the category.

Masterfoods took out the top spot in the BBQ sauce category, scoring highly for taste, ease of use and value for money.

The iconic Bega won the top spot in our best cheese slice category thanks to a strong performance across taste, texture and value for money making it a favourite for kids' lunch boxes.

When it comes to fresh milk, Australians love the freshness of Riverina Fresh with 97% of respondents recommending it to others. The brand also rated highly for taste, packaging and value for money.

While better known for its chocolate, Cadbury was the firm favourite in the Finder Awards' ice cream category this year, receiving the highest overall score for its ice cream multi packs.

When it comes to ice cream tubs, it appears more Aussies prefer the decadence of encased chocolate. Magnum was the overall winner here, with impressive scores across consistency, taste and variety of flavours.

ALDI Friendly Farms was the number one rated yoghurt brand this year despite some stiff competition. It received a near-perfect score for value for money and also performed strongly in the areas of taste and consistency.

Steggles was the top frozen entertaining food brand in this year's Finder Retail Awards. It was recommended by 100% of respondents.

The Finder Award for best frozen vegetables has been taken out by ALDI's Market Fare selection. It scored higher than the competition for overall value for money and joint-highest for quality of ingredients.

It's little surprise that the iconic Arnott's has won the best sweet biscuit category. It received top scores for taste and value and was also the highest recommended brand in our poll.

How we chose the winners
The 2021/22 Finder Retail Awards recognise brand sentiment from customer feedback on different retail product categories. Finder worked with data and insights company, Dynata to conduct thousands of customer interviews around their product purchasing history and satisfaction with their purchased products.
