Yes, Qantas Frequent Flyers can use their Qantas Points to request an upgrade to business class on flights they've already booked.
There are 2 kinds of upgrades:
Classic Upgrade Rewards. If you want a taste of luxury, use your points for Classic Upgrade Rewards to upgrade to Premium Economy, Business or First Class. You can use the "Classic Upgrade Reward Calculator" on the Qantas website to determine how many points you'll need.
Bid Now Upgrades. Available by invitation only and for selected Qantas flights, you have the option to bid your points (or a combination of cash and points) to upgrade your flight.
Request is the operative word with upgrades. While you can request an upgrade where one is available, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be approved. This is because there might be just a few seats free and factors such as when you booked, your Qantas Frequent Flyer status and the fare class can all play a role.
The Qantas Points required for an upgrade to business are different between domestic and international fares.
Confused? Read our guide on how to upgrade to business class with Qantas Points.
The value of your Qantas Points depends on the rewards you're redeeming them for. Generally, redeeming your points for flights and travel upgrades will offer better value for your money than spending them on merchandise or gift cards. You can see our guide to how much a Qantas Point is worth for more information to get the most out of your frequent flyer haul.
"Looking for maximum points value? Check out Qantas flights into regional Australia. These offer great value - often they're only 8,000 Qantas Points (plus carrier charges) but the tickets themselves are routinely $200 or more one way. "

Hello, I would like to purchase a weber q bbq how can i use my points to do that?
Hi Sally,
Thanks for your question.
You can browse the Qantas catalog for the Outdoor and BBQ section of the Qantas Store to compare Weber barbeques that are available to redeem with points.
Once you’ve decided which barbeque you’d like to redeem, add it to your cart and check out. Make sure that you’re logged in to your frequent flyer account at the time.
Cheers,
Sally
Recently our family had travel to europe with Emirate and Qantas. I would like to know whether I can claim missing point from my sons whom I booked and paid?
with thanks,
Yan
Hi Yan,
Thanks for your question.
Usually, you can only claim frequent flyer points on flight tickets that are under the same name as your frequent flyer account. So if you made the bookings under your son’s names, you may not be able to claim the missing points.
Otherwise, you can find out more information through our guide about claiming mission points. This should help you know how to claim missing flight points with Qantas.
Cheers,
Sally
thanks Sally,

Hi. I have Krisflyer miles with Singapore airlines and points with American Express and Qantas. Is there any way to combine the three into one block of points to use collectively. Thank you!
Hi Brad,
Thanks for your question.
While you can transfer American Express rewards points to KrisFlyer miles, you can’t transfer any of these points into Qantas Points unless you have an American Express Qantas Frequent Flyer card.
If you’d like to transfer your American Express Membership Rewards to KrisFlyer miles, you’ll need to log in to your Membership Rewards account, link your frequent flyer membership number to your Membership Rewards account and select the ‘redeem’ option.
I hope this has helped.
Cheers,
Sally
Thanks very much Sally
As Meatloaf says – “two outta three ain’t bad” !!!
You’re welcome, Brad!

Sally
