28 October 2020, Sydney, Australia – Australia's most forward-thinking businesses have been recognised in the 2020 Finder Awards winners ceremony this afternoon.
The Finder Innovation Awards categories recognise the excellence, creativity and impact of initiatives introduced during the 2019-2020 financial year. This year entrants shared their responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Submissions across 12 key innovation categories were scored by an expert judging panel of 48 industry heavy-hitters including Channel Seven's network finance editor Gemma Acton, News Corp's Technology Reporter Jack Gramenz and Executive Director of the Australian Tourism Industry Council Simon Westaway.
Multiple award winners included TransferWise, who scooped the title for Best Banking Innovation and Best Travel Innovation, while SendGold – an app that lets Aussies buy gold online – collected Best Investment Innovation and Most Innovative Person for co-founder and CEO Jodi Stanton.
Shippit won Best Retail Innovation for its advanced tracking features and ability to help retailers grow online sales during lockdown, while THE ICONIC won Best Online Customer Service for its data-led approach to customer care.
Entrants were evaluated on criteria including innovation, range of features, impact and testimonials.
Chris Ellis, CEO of Finder Australia, said innovation is the unlock for sustainable business growth.
"Companies that continually innovate and press forward reap the benefits of sustainable customer and revenue growth, which is why it's important to celebrate innovation within our business community," he said.
Mr Ellis was honoured to recognise the businesses that have persevered and innovated despite the challenges of COVID-19.
"There have been challenges, but this year we've seen some of the greatest innovations to date. 2020 has forced businesses to pivot and think about how they can reinvent themselves and dig deeper so they can continue to exceed customer expectations.
"All finalists and winners should be commended for their outstanding contribution, and their ability to take risks and show up for their customers by introducing the best possible product or service to market.
"The sophistication of these ideas and projects was truly impressive and it was a privilege to recognise their work.
"These are the companies to watch in 2020, and I can't wait to see what disruptive products and services they deliver next," he said.
