If you buy Qantas Points to top up your total this week, you could score a significant bonus.

Purchases of between 10,000 and 29,000 Qantas Points score an extra 25% in total Qantas Points.

And if you buy between 30,000 and 150,000 Qantas Points, you'll get an extra 50%.

The deal runs until 13 October 2023.

Is it worth buying Qantas Points during the sale?

Buying points can be a good tactic if you're just slightly short of the total needed for a reward.

However, you need to make sure you're not paying more for the points than the value you redeem them for.

The promotion definitely helps there. If you're paying under $20 per 1,000 Qantas Points and then redeem them for a flight upgrade, you'll get a lot more value than you paid. An upgrade to Business is usually worth at least $34 per 1,000 points, for instance.

Remember, though, you still need to be able to redeem the reward. While Qantas is promising more Classic Reward seats, availability for premium seats on popular international routes remains thin.

So if you have a specific goal in mind and don't think you'll earn the points needed otherwise, this is worth thinking about. But don't just pay points for their own sake.
