The sustainable companies changing the game: Finder Green Awards finalists revealed

05 March 2020, Sydney, Australia – Australian businesses shaping sustainability best practice have been named finalists in the inaugural Finder Green Awards.

The Finder Green Awards aim to help Australian consumers identify sustainable options across several industries including energy, insurance, banking, travel, shopping, superannuation, and telecommunications.

Entrants were judged on broad environmental metrics including greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy usage and waste avoiding landfill, while the criteria for the people-based categories was based on key achievements and impact.

Finalists across multiple categories include Commonwealth Bank, Brighte, Sendle and Future Super.

Ben King, CSR Manager at Finder, said the calibre of entries was truly impressive.

"We have been blown away by the commitment and passion that Australian business leaders have in creating a more sustainable future.

"From introducing more sustainable packaging to offering incentives to customers who choose greener options, it's clear there's strong innovation in this space, and we applaud the organisations that are doing such exceptional work," he said.

King said Finder introduced the Finder Green Awards in response to consumer attitudes when making purchasing decisions.

"Our research shows 75% of Aussies believe a company's social or environmental efforts are important, indicating they want to buy from brands that are making a conscious effort to minimise their impact on our planet.

"We want to cut through the industry jargon and help consumers make informed and meaningful decisions when comparing products. Whether it's signing up with a new superfund, choosing a hotel or shopping online, we want to give consumers the confidence that they're purchasing from a responsible provider," he said.
