What does roadside assistance cover me for in Tasmania?

Every provider will have its own list of what it does and does not cover, so always read the product disclosure statement. However, most will cover the following:

  • Towing. If you breakdown and the problem can't be solved there and then, roadside assistance will usually provide a towing service for your vehicle. Keep in mind that there are usually distance restrictions that apply, which is worth keeping in mind if you're far from the nearest town in Tasmania.
  • Flat or punctured tyres. If you have a flat tyre, roadside assistance can help you to either inflate or replace it with your spare.
  • Out of petrol. Some roadside assistance services will carry around small amounts of petrol and diesel, so if you mistime your fuel stops and run out of gas, they might be able to help. Others will tow you to the nearest station.
  • Flat batteries. Whether you've accidentally left the lights on or there's something more serious wrong, roadside assistance can replace your battery or help you get started again with a spark.
  • Keys. If you lock your keys inside your car or lose them, roadside assistance can send out a locksmith to help you. You might need to have your keys re-coded or replaced depending on your vehicle and the situation.
