What are the key features of Rest Super?

  • Profit to member fund. Also called an industry or not-for-profit fund, these super funds are not designed to benefit shareholders and will instead return profit to members.
  • Ethical investments are available. Rest factors environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into all of its investment decisions. It also offers an Ethical Super Investment option for those wanting to invest ethically.
  • Consolidate your super online. You can find and combine your super with Rest using the app or online. The chat function is also available for those who need assistance.
  • Insurance cover. Rest offers Default Insurance for all members which includes Income Protection, Total and Permanent Disability and Death Cover. You can also apply to increase your cover if you are eligible.
  • Rest Advice. Rest offers an advice service with qualified financial advisors for free for members. You can access it over the phone or online and get help with your super or your financial goals.

Option 1: Default option

You will be in this investment option unless you specifically choose one of the other available investment mixes.

Core StrategyHighThis option has a balance of growth and defensive assets with a minimum suggested holding timeframe of over 10 years. There is a focus on growth assets (between 60-75%) including 35% overseas shares, 23.5% Australian shares and 10% property.
BalancedMedium to HighThis option is designed to be the default option for the Rest Pension and held for a minimum timeframe of 6+ years. There's a balance of growth and defensive assets, with a mix of Australian (16%) and overseas (24%) shares with a higher percentage of cash (12%) than the Core Strategy.

What insurance cover is available?

Rest offers 3 types of insurance: Income Protection, Total and Permanent Disability, and Death Cover.

Rest's Default Cover is an insurance package that combines all 3 and is available to all members. You can also opt to increase your cover if you prefer.

  • Income protection. This insurance cover protects you if you are unable to work for an extended period of time due to certain reasons, such as injury or illness.
  • Total and Permanent Disability. This cover is designed to cover you in the form of a lump sum payment if you become totally and permanently disabled and are unlikely to work again.
  • Death Cover. Your family and friends will receive a payment or pension in the event of your death through this cover.
