What are the key features of Rest Super?

  • Profit to member fund. Also called an industry or not-for-profit fund, these super funds are not designed to benefit shareholders and will instead return profit to members.
  • 9 investment options. There are 9 investment options to choose between, including a vriety of diversified funds and single asset class options.
  • Ethical investments are available. Rest factors environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into all of its investment decisions. It also offers an 'Sustainable Growth' investment option for those wanting to invest ethically.
  • Consolidate your super online. You can find and combine your super with Rest using the app or online. The chat function is also available for those who need assistance.
  • Insurance cover. Rest offers Default Insurance for all members which includes Income Protection, Total and Permanent Disability and Death Cover. You can also apply to increase your cover if you are eligible.
  • Rest Advice. Rest offers an advice service with qualified financial advisors for free for members. You can access it over the phone or online and get help with your super or your financial goals.

Growth

This is the default investment option you'll be invested in when you join the fund. It's a diversified investment product that invests in a range of different asset classes. It has a High risk level, and invests in roughly 70% growth assets and 30% defensive assets.

Cash

This product has a Very Low risk level and invests exclusively in cash products like interest-earning deposit accounts.

Capital Stable

This product has a Low to Medium risk level. It invests in roughly 65% defensive assets and 35% growth assets.

Balanced

This option is a diversified investment product that invests in a range of different asset classes. It has a Medium to High risk level, and has an asset allocation of roughly 55% growth assets and 45% defensive.

Balanced - Index

This option is a diversified investment product that invests in a mix of indexed funds. It has a High risk level, and invests in roughly 75% growth assets (primarily shares) and 25% defensive.

Sustainable Growth

This option is a diversified investment product with a focus on sustainable investments. It has a High risk level, and in invests roughly 80% growth assets and 20% defensive.

High Growth

This option is a diversified investment product that invests in a range of different asset classes. It has a High risk level, and has an asset allocation of roughly 80-90% growth assets and 10-20% defensive.

Australian Shares - Indexed

This option has a Very High risk level and invests entirely in Australian shares via indexed funds.

Overseas Shares - Indexed

This option has a High risk level and invests entirely in overseas shares via indexed funds.

What insurance cover is available?

Rest offers 3 types of insurance: Income Protection, Total and Permanent Disability, and Death Cover.

Rest's Default Cover is an insurance package that combines all 3 and is available to all members. You can also opt to increase your cover if you prefer.

  • Income protection. This insurance cover protects you if you are unable to work for an extended period of time due to certain reasons, such as injury or illness.
  • Total and Permanent Disability. This cover is designed to cover you in the form of a lump sum payment if you become totally and permanently disabled and are unlikely to work again.
  • Death Cover. Your family and friends will receive a payment or pension in the event of your death through this cover.

Joining Rest Super is a straightforward process and shouldn't take long. Here are the steps:

  1. Begin the online application on Rest's site
  2. Provide your contact details and create a password
  3. Optional: Provide your Tax File Number (TFN)
  4. Once your account is set up, share your details with your employer
