Buying Taylor Swift resale tickets? Don’t forget your travel insurance
It's time to enter your protected era.
Another round of Taylor Swift ticket mania is about to begin down under.
At 10am AEDT on Friday 24 November, Ticketek Marketplace will allow fans who already have tickets to the Sydney and Melbourne Taylor Swift Eras tour shows in 2024 to resell them if they no longer want them or can't use them.
Resale prices are capped at a maximum of 10% above the original ticket price, though buyers also have to pay marketplace and reissue fees (typically around $32).
I imagine most Swifties have no intention of selling their precious tickets.
So any that do go up for resale will be snapped up quickly.
My one reminder? If you get lucky and score tickets this way and you're travelling from outside Sydney or Melbourne, don't forget about your travel insurance.
Too often, we only think about insurance for international trips.
Just 11% of us contemplate insurance when travelling domestically, Finder consumer research has found, and that can superficially feel like it makes sense.
We don't need usually travel health insurance in Australia, for instance, as we'll be covered by Medicare or our own health insurance.
But travelling to a concert is still an expensive prospect, and you could lose a lot of cash if health issues or an accident caused you to the miss the show.
If you flew from Brisbane to Sydney for the Monday 26 February concert, for instance, I calculate you'd be up for at least $450 in airfares and $200 for a hotel room. (All the cheaper rooms and seats sold ages back, alas.)
That's worth securing with a little insurance.
Good luck finding tickets!
