Belong internet review

Our verdict: Belong offers straight-forward NBN plans that are decently priced. However, it's not for you if you want superfast download speeds or extra perks.

Belong Internet review: Our verdict

Belong is a cheaper cousin to Telstra. It's fully owned by the telco giant but offers its own plans which are comparatively more affordable prices.

Each Belong NBN plan also comes with a SIM loaded with $80 of credit – equal to almost 3 months of Belong's 25GB mobile plan.

Keep in mind that Belong doesn't offer any form of home phone service in case you want to keep an active home phone line.

What do Australians think of Belong NBN?

  • 4.13/5 overall for Customer Satisfaction — higher than the average of 3.93
  • 4.26/5 for Trust — higher than the average of 4.08
  • 4.18/5 for Customer Service — higher than the average of 3.93

Based on Belong NBN scores in Finder's 2024 Customer Satisfaction Awards.

Value for money

Belong NBN plans are fairly decent value, coming in around $10 cheaper than the Finder average for its speed tiers.

  • Good to know: You can either bring your own modem for free or purchase a new one for $60. This is very cheap as provider-supplied modems go (usually around $100 or more).

Belong's mobile broadband plans are excellent value across the board. It even features one of the highest data caps available on the market: 500GB for only $70.

Best of all, Belong doesn't place any restrictions on how you can use it, so you can share it between all your devices in any way you want – some providers don't allow this.

  • Good to know: You can gift your mobile broadband data in 1GB blocks to other Belong mobile customers, even if they only have a regular mobile plan.

Performance

Sadly, there are no third-party measures of Belong's broadband performance (such as the ACCC Broadband Performance Report).

However, Belong's advertised typical evening speeds are at or near the maximum for their speed tiers, which means your connection should perform well most of the time.

  • Good to know: Max speeds are the fastest speed your plan can reach for a given speed tier. For example, an NBN 100 plan has a max speed of 100Mbps, NBN 50 is 50Mbps and so forth.

customer service icon

Customer service

Belong only has 2 ways to get in touch if you need some help.

  • If you have a Belong account, you can leave a message with your request and someone should get back to you.
  • You can send a message via Belong's social media on Twitter or Facebook.
  • Keep in mind: You may have to wait a while for a response from Belong. As of March 2022, wait times were 20 hours for contact via the Belong website and 13 hours via Facebook or Twitter.

bonus icon

Bonus features

Belong has a couple of nice features on its NBN plans:

🆓 Free $80 mobile SIM

All Belong NBN plans come with a bonus mobile SIM containing $80 of credit.

This is equivalent to almost 3 months of Belong's $30 for 25GB mobile plan, which is pretty handy to have if you're looking to switch mobile plans.

Which rivals are giving Belong a run for its money?

      Hi Gordon,

      Thanks for your question.

If you have decided to go with a new provider, generally, you may still keep your old phone number and port it over to the new provider to continue receiving calls made to your existing phone number.

You may directly get in touch with your new provider to check the requirements for number porting.

      Cheers,
      Anndy

2 Harrison Crescent Yankalilla is a near new home but the nbn has not been connected to the house. I can see wires coiled by the electrical green box by the footpath.

Could you give an estimation of time frame and basic costs to have the basic nbn installed in the house please.

      Hi Neil,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

I have entered your address into our NBN tracker, but there doesn’t seem to be any information on the NBN rollout in your area. I would recommend contacting NBNCo directly with your query.

      Thanks,
      Brodie
