Dodo NBN review: Our verdict

You might be familiar with Dodo from the days of ADSL, but its NBN plans aren't too shabby either.

Dodo's prices put it in line with average NBN prices on Finder, and you can save a further $10 a month when you bundle your internet plan with a Dodo Energy plan.

Dodo NBN may be right for you if

  • You'd like an affordable NBN plan with decent sign-up discounts for new customers.
  • You're interested in bundling internet and energy with one provider.

While Dodo NBN has a lot going for it, consider

  • Its NBN 250 plans do not offer maximum typical evening speeds. You could find a better speed and price combo elsewhere.

What do Australians think of dodo NBN?

  • 3.95/5 overall for Customer Satisfaction — higher than the average of 3.93
  • 4.22/5 for Trust — higher than the average of 4.08
  • 3.84/5 for Customer Service — lower than the average of 3.93

Based on dodo NBN scores in Finder's 2024 Customer Satisfaction Awards.

Value for money

Dodo's plans are in line with the average NBN plan on Finder thanks to its sign-up discounts on almost all plans.

Dodo offers a BYO modem option, so you don't have to fork out for an additional modem if you already have one.

Otherwise, you can grab one from Dodo for $79, which is cheaper than the average modem cost on Finder.

Performance

In June 2024, Dodo shared fourth (out of 12 providers) with iPrimus, in the ACCC Broadband Performance Report for download speeds during busy hours of the day (7pm–11pm). It delivered maximum speeds 101.1% of the time.

  • Why this matters: The ACCC Report allows customers to see which NBN providers are delivering the speeds they've advertised, as a measure of reliability.

This was Dodo's equal highest placing since having last ranked fifth in the December 2021 report.

Customer service

Dodo has several ways for you to get in touch with its customer support team, but only on weekdays. There are no weekend customer support options.

You can do the following:

  • Ring up the Dodo call centre between 9am–6pm AEST on weekdays
  • Reach out via live chat on its website or sling the customer support team an email
  • Log in to your account and submit a support request
  • Visit Dodo's support page for frequently asked questions
  • Leave a message on its Twitter or Facebook social media accounts

What if I'm moving house?
You can select a date during the sign-up process for when you'd like your new Dodo plan to be activated. Keep in mind that it could take up to 20 business days to get connected.

Make sure to give your current provider a heads-up in case there's a notice period to account for. No one wants to end up paying 2 NBN bills.

      Hi Steff,

      Thanks for your question.

Please note that you’ve come through to finder.com.au we are an Australian financial comparison website and general information service, not actually Dodo.

For the Dodo ADSL2 + Unlimited Regional plan, the base amount is $59.90 but you will also need to pay for the monthly home phone line which is $29.90, so that makes the total amount of your monthly subscription to $89.80 for the plan.

      Cheers,
      May

Hello. I’m a new dodo customer. Just signed up with them with NBN and lucky me I have it now activated with the help of dodos responsible technician. Its just within 1 week or after and Im all set. Just wondering about the Dodo fetch tv. I know Dodo is designed for budget conscious people but why there is one time activation fee included on each TV? I want my 4 tvs to get the fetch service but it would be 4 times for the one time activation.

      Hello Megan.

      Thanks for your question.

The reason why an activation fee is required, DoDo will provide you a fetch TV box with every activation request made. That way you will have a clear signal whenever you will be using the fetch TV box.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers!
