What policies are available with RACQ caravan insurance
RACQ provides 2 levels of cover: Comprehensive Caravan Insurance and Comprehensive Trailer Insurance.
Both cover you for loss or damage – either to your caravan or trailer – caused by a range of specified incidents such as accidents, theft and natural weather events such as storms or floods. They also provide up to $20 million in third-party liability cover.
With RACQ's Caravan Insurance policy, you can choose to pay more and add further contents cover up to an amount you nominate – this isn't available with Comprehensive Trailer Insurance. The caravan policy already comes with up to $500 in cover for contents such as electrical appliances, bedding and furniture.
Whether you have a caravan, trailer, horse float or box trailer, you can access 24/7 emergency assistance, should you become ill or injured more than 100km from home.

What affects the cost of RACQ Caravan Insurance?
A range of factors is considered when calculating the cost of your RACQ caravan insurance. These include:
Accessories and modifications. Accessories may attract thieves and modifications can affect your caravan's performance, handling and braking.
Address and location. Whether your caravan is kept on the road or in a garage; and whether the area you live in has a high number of claims, including thefts.
Caravan type. The size, make and model, cost of replacement parts and safety record can all affect the risk of a claim.
Your claims history. Whether or not you have made claims in the recent past. In general, expect to pay more if you have a history of at-fault accidents.
Any optional benefits you choose. These will increase the cost of your premium.
Any discounts you are eligible for. Any no-claim bonuses, or multi-policy discounts, can lower the cost of your premium.
RACQ Caravan Insurance excess
An excess is an amount that you must contribute towards the cost of a claim. There are 2 types of excesses that apply to RACQ Caravan Comprehensive Insurance:
Basic excess. This applies to all claims (except for not-at-fault claims).
Listed driver excess. An additional excess must be paid on top of the basic excess should the loss or damage occur while another regular driver is behind the wheel.
Making a claim
If you need to make a claim under your RACQ Caravan Comprehensive Insurance policy, simply call RACQ on 13 72 02 or visit an RACQ store. In most cases, RACQ will lodge your claim for you, without you needing to fill out a claim form.
When making a claim, be sure to follow these steps;
Tell RACQ about the incident and lodge your claim as soon as possible.
Make sure you get the name, address and phone number of each person involved in the incident and the make, model and registration details of any vehicles involved.
If necessary, report it to the police immediately and make sure you have the police officer’s name and incident number when you lodge your claim.
Do everything you reasonably can to limit any further loss or damage to your caravan.

Important information about this website
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stands by our editorial principles
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
