Suncorp Motorcycle Insurance offers three levels of cover, with a policy that’s right for you and your motorcycle. They include: Third Party Property Damage; Fire, Theft and Third Party Property Damage; and Comprehensive cover. All are underwritten by AAI Limited, one of Australia’s largest general insurers.

What cover options do Suncorp offer?

Suncorp Motorcycle Insurance has a policy to suit every rider’s needs, from basic cover through to insurance with all the bells and whistles. Choose from;

Comprehensive

Top-level cover with lots of added extras, this includes liability cover for loss or damage to another person’s vehicle or property, accidental loss or damage to your motorcycle from events such as flood, theft, collision and impact, and a two-year new motorcycle replacement following a write-off or theft.

Includes liability cover for loss or damage to another person’s vehicle or property plus accidental loss or damage to your motorcycle from fire, theft or attempted theft.

What kind of exclusions are there?

General exclusions that apply to Suncorp Motorcycle Insurance policies include any loss or damage arising from the following:

  • Agreements you enter into
  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Asbestos
  • Biological, chemical or other pollutant or contaminant
  • Business use
  • Confiscation or repossession
  • Condition of motorcycle
  • Dangerous goods
  • Exceeding loading or passenger limits
  • Failure to take reasonable precautions
  • Hire, fare or reward
  • Intentional loss or damage
  • Modifications
  • Motor sports or similar activities
  • Radioactivity/nuclear materials
  • Reckless acts

  • Riding a damaged motorcycle

How much does Suncorp motorcycle insurance cost?

Factors that are used to determine the cost of your Suncorp Motorcycle Insurance include:

  • The make and model of your motorcycle
  • Your age and the age of those riding your motorcycle
  • The value of your motorcycle
  • Accessories and modifications on your motorcycle
  • Where your motorcycle is housed
  • Where your motorcycle is parked
  • Any security features your motorcycle has
  • Your riding history
  • The options you select in your cover
  • The level of excess you choose
  • How you opt to pay your premiums (monthly or annually)

Is there any excess I should be aware of?

An excess is the amount you must pay for an incident when you make a claim. The total excess you will pay depends on the circumstances and you may be required to pay more than one type of excess when you claim.

The excesses which apply to Suncorp Motorcycle Insurance are:

  • Standard excess. Applies to all claims, unless stated otherwise in your policy.
  • Voluntary excess. You can choose a voluntary excess from the range offered to reduce your premium.
  • Age excess. Applies if the rider is under 25 years of age at the time of an incident.
  • Inexperienced rider excess. Applies if an inexperienced rider is in charge of the motorcycle at the time of an incident.

How do I make a claim?

If you are involved in an incident, here are the steps to take when making a claim on your Suncorp Motorcycle Insurance:

  • Ensure everyone is safe (for emergencies call 000)
  • Try to prevent any further loss or damage
  • Report the incident to the police if someone is injured or your motorcycle has been maliciously damaged or stolen
  • Record the time, date, report number and name of the recording police officer
  • Record details of all drivers, passengers and witnesses
  • Contact Suncorp Insurance as soon as possible on 13 25 24, making sure you have all these details on hand to assist with lodging your claim
