Hi Ronald,
You can check and get written confirmation of eligibility for cover by calling Allianz on 1300 135 271. As far as the terms and conditions go, there is no specific mention of PayPal payments in the ANZ Platinum and Black Complimentary Insurance booklet (pdf effective 27 April 2022). But if you charged at least $250 of overseas accommodation to the card and it’s showing on the account, it’s possible you’ll be covered but checking with Allianz will provide clarification on this. Hope that helps.

I have an ANZ Platinum card in my name, is my husband covered if he is driving the hire car?
NikkiFebruary 3, 2020
Hi Bianca,
Thanks for getting in touch and I hope you are well.
Typically, in this case, the primary cardholder is the one covered under a rental car cover. As your inquiry, is very specific, we would suggest contacting Allianz to consult about this.
Hope this helps and feel free to reach out to us again for further assistance.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your comment and I hope you are doing well.
As it says on the page, “to activate your complimentary travel insurance, you will need to use your participating ANZ credit card to pay for at least AUD$250 (inclusive of taxes and other charges) of your prepaid travel costs.” Which includes hotel and airfare. There are also a number of other requirements you need to meet to use this cover. Allianz has outlined the following key conditions:
Residency status. You should be a permanent Australian citizen or resident or hold a visa that allows you to live and work in Australia issued under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).
Ticket. You must have a valid return overseas travel ticket before leaving Australia.
Age. You must be 80 years of age or under on the day you activated the insurance policy.
Dependents. A spouse and/or a child who is traveling with the cardholder on the trip for at least 50% of the period of cover is also eligible for the travel insurance.
Given this, you are entitled to complimentary travel insurance from ANZ.
Hope this helps and have a safe trip!
Cheers,
