Is there any age limit with the complimentary travel insurance

      Hi Alice,

      Thanks for your comment.

There isn’t an age limit with the complimentary travel insurance. However, if you have asthma and you’re over the age of 60, you may not be covered for this condition.

      Cheers,
      Shirley

I want a card to use overseas with no annual fee, what charges are involved for purchases and cash withdraws? I’m sick of being ripped off..

      Hi Con,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

Please check this page for a comparison of travel money options. The cards listed on this page do not charge a cross currency conversion fee. Please check the product tables for information on annual fees and rates of interest. The credit cards and products on this page are what I like to call, ‘travel friendly’.

To give you an idea of the types of charges you will incur when you use a normal credit card overseas when you make a purchase, you will incur the currency conversion fee and the purchase rate of interest (disregarding interest-free days). When you withdraw money from an ATM as a cash advance, you will incur the cash advance rate of interest, cash advance fee, local ATM operator fee, international ATM operator fee, and the cross currency conversion fee.

Bankwest does not charge an international ATM withdrawal fee on their credit cards and the currency conversion fee is waived for their platinum credit cards.

Please ensure to read through the relevant product disclosure statement and terms and conditions to ensure that you got everything covered before you travel.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Jacob

      Hi Cassandra,

      Thanks for your question.

It would be best that you contact the financial institution directly. You can see their contact details at the back of the card or head over to their website to contact their customer service team.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,

Apologies Jacob – I asked about the annual fee, but now see they say no annual fee ever for the Bankwest Zero Platinum card. What is the difference between Mastercard and Visa? I have always had a Visa card.

      Hi Heather,

      Thanks for your question.

These two companies are known as card processors. There are small differences between MasterCard and Visa. From a consumer’s point of view, Visa and MasterCard are generally accepted in as many places as each other and the cost of using both a Visa or MasterCard credit card is similar across a range of merchants. Mastercard has ‘MasterCard Moments’, which offers exclusive rewards and Visa has ‘Visa Entertainment’ – both cards offer the means to pay via contactless technology and both card schemes offer about the same in terms of fraud protection. You may refer to our guide on the difference between Visa and Mastercard.

Before applying for a card, please ensure that you meet all the eligibility criteria and read through the details of the needed requirements as well as the relevant Product Disclosure Statements/Terms and Conditions when comparing your options before making a decision on whether it is right for you.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Jacob

If i buy a money order with my credit card is that a cash advance, or if i bpay with my credit card is that a cash advance.

      AvatarFinder
      JacobMay 15, 2013Finder

Hi Kellie. Thanks for your question. If you purchase a money order at a post office outlet, this is a purchase. If you’re making a BPAY payment from your card, this can either be a purchase or a cash advance – it depends on the merchant and whether they’re set up to accept BPAY payments. Check with the merchant first. Jacob.
