Coles credit cards offer three types of instalment plans, which give you a way to pay off your credit card balance over a set period of time, with fixed monthly repayments that can make it easier to budget. The options available depend on the type of spending or balance and are subject to eligibility.

PlanDescription
Statement instalmentsConvert retail purchases from your closing balance into a structured payment plan, with a minimum of $500 and monthly instalment repayments.
Transaction instalmentsConvert new shopping to a payment plan before it shows up on your statement. You can do this with any eligible purchase over $50.
Cash instalmentsAccess a minimum of $500 and up to 90% of your available credit limit as cash for bills, study or anything else you need and pay it off in instalments. This option is similar to a small personal loan, but make sure you check the rates and fees so you know how much it will cost before you get it.

You can check if you're eligible for an instalment plan by calling Coles Mastercard on 1300 066 985. Once a plan is set up, you'll see details on your credit card statement. Learn more about using instalment plans on a credit card to see if they'll work for you.

  • Security

These cards offer 24/7 account security through Coles Shield and Mastercard Zero Liability for fraudulent transactions.

Get income from a mix of sources? Include as much supporting documentation as possible for your application. Or, call Coles on 1300 265 727 to talk about your situation.

Credit card details

During the application, you'll also be asked about details of your new credit card. The two key details to look at are:

  • Current Flybuys number. You can include your Flybuys membership number on the application so that your details are printed on the back of your Coles credit card if your application's approved. If you're not a Flybuys member, you can also join for free by visiting the Flybuys website – and can update the Flybuys details linked to your card through the Coles Online Service Centre.
  • Credit limit. If you have a credit limit in mind, you can include that as part of the application. Note that Coles will offer you a credit limit based on its assessment of your application, which could be lower than the one you've requested.
  • Balance transfers. If you're moving a debt to a new Coles card with a 0% balance transfer rate, you need to include the account details and the amount of debt you want to transfer. Just keep in mind that the balance transfer is approved separately and the amount that's transferred depends on the credit limit you get for your new Coles card.

What happens after you apply?

When you submit your completed application form, you'll get a response within 60 seconds giving you an initial outcome. Coles will also send you an email with a summary and application reference number. You'll also get details about providing more supporting documentation (if that's needed).

      Hi Fred,

      Thanks for your question.

There is no cap specified in the Coles Rewards card terms and conditions nor in the terms and conditions of the flybuys program.

      I hope this has helped.

      Thanks,

      Elizabeth

I have cancelled my card as card was compromised. I have previously set up a nominated account to repay my card. Will it still go thru?

      Hi Lee,

      Thanks for your question.

Your account information should remain the same so the payments should still go through, the only thing that would have changed is the card number if you have received a replacement credit card. You may want to check your statement to ensure that your payments have been received as normal.

      I hope this has helped.

      Thanks,

      Elizabeth

      Hi HT,

      Thanks for your question.

There doesn’t appear to be any ATMs that you can withdraw money from your Coles credit card without incurring fees.

      I hope this has helped.

      Thanks,

My partner has recently received a no annual fee master card and would like to pay off the balance that has been used on the card (it hasn’t been a month yet), do we need to wait until we receive a statement to do this or can we just pay any amount? What happens to amounts that are not shown on the online service, does this go on the next statement to pay? Is it every 30 days that we receive a statement to pay or the 62? What if you make a mistake with using Bpay? Also if there is a credit limit on the card does it reset every month or stay like that until it is paid? i.e if your limit is $3000 and you have spent $2500 meaning you have only $500 available, will it reset back to $3000 the next month or until you pay the balance? I hope this makes sense. Thank you

      Hi Deb,

      Thanks for your questions.

First off, you can make payments at any time on your credit card account. If you have online banking set up you can make your payments through there.

Amounts that aren’t shown on your statement will be shown on your following statement, and you will receive a statement every month.

If you make a mistake using BPAY it will either not go through, or if it does you’ll need to get in contact with your bank to cancel the payment.

The credit limit doesn’t reset every month, basically any balance you have owing on your account is subtracted from your available credit limit and you will not have access to that money until you pay it back. As you said, if your limit is $3,000 and you’ve spent $2,500 you’ll only have access to $500 credit until you repay the remaining $2,500.

      I hope this has helped.

      Thanks,

      Elizabeth

Hi, just a few questions on the no annual fee Coles credit card. 1.Can i use this card to pay bills such as utilities or phone bills or is it just for purchases? 2.If i pay my balance each time before the 62 days how does Coles make any money by allowing me to have their credit card? 3.I have never used Bpay before, what reference number do i use ? Thank you

      AvatarFinder
      ElizabethOctober 21, 2014Finder

      Hi Phil,

      Thanks for your question.

First off, you can use this card to pay bills such as utilities and phone bills.

For your second question, it’s important to remember that while you may pay your balance in full each statement period, other cardholders may not pay theirs. So, even if Coles does not make any money by you having a card, they can make money off other people having theirs and not paying their balance off in full (therefore earning interest). Cardholders are able to be as savvy as they want with their spending, so how much money you pay the card issuer with this kind of lower cost card is really up to you.

When you go to make BPAY payments, the relevant biller code and reference number will be listed on the bill you have received.

      I hope this has helped.

      Thanks,

      Elizabeth
