Suncorp Rewards

The Suncorp Rewards program offers you points for everyday credit card spending, which you can redeem for gift cards, frequent flyer point transfers, cashback and more. Here’s how it works.

How to earn Suncorp Rewards points

If you have an eligible Suncorp credit card, you'll earn Suncorp Rewards points per $1 spent on eligible transactions. This covers most of your everyday spending, including when you buy groceries, fill the car with petrol, book a holiday, dine out and pay for most healthcare appointments.

Transactions that don't earn points usually have a financial aspect to them. With Suncorp Rewards, this includes cash advances, balance transfers, BPAY payments, business operation costs (unless it's a business card) and government-related transactions.

Want to earn Qantas Points instead?

If you have a Suncorp Clear Options Platinum Card or a Suncorp Clear Options Business Card, you can choose to get Qantas Points instead of Suncorp Rewards points. Here are the key details:

  • Suncorp Clear Options Platinum: Earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 on eligible spending, up to $8,000 per statement period. A $49 p.a. annual rewards fee applies for choosing the Qantas Frequent Flyer option.
  • Suncorp Clear Options Business: If you choose the Suncorp Credit Cards Rewards for a fee of $20 p.a. per card, you can redeem your Suncorp Rewards points for Qantas Points. With this option, 2.5 Suncorp Rewards points is equal to 1 Qantas Point.

What rewards can you get with Suncorp Rewards?

Rewards are how you get value from the points that you earn. In general, the more points you have, the bigger the rewards.

The Suncorp Rewards program gives you a lot of ways to redeem your points, with the following key categories:

  • Gift cards. Redeem points for digital gift cards and vouchers with brands like Bunnings Warehouse, JB Hi-Fi and Woolworths.
  • Cashback. According to the Suncorp Rewards website, you can use your points for cashback on your account. This includes general cashback rewards, as well as Select+Credit to pay for part or all of a purchase you've made with the card. But the website requires you to log in to see details about this type of reward.
  • Flights, accommodation and car hire. Suncorp has partnered with several travel, car hire and accommodation companies, allowing you to pay for these bookings using your Suncorp Rewards points.
  • Apple merchandise (shop with partners). You can use Suncorp Rewards points to pay for Apple products, including iPhones and iPads, with Points Plus Pay available.
  • Annual fee credit. If you want to save on credit card costs directly, you can redeem Suncorp Rewards points as credit towards the annual fee.
  • Charity donations. You can redeem points for a donation to charities such as the Australian Red Cross and Starlight Children's Foundation.

Point transfers

If you have a Suncorp Platinum or Business account, you can transfer points to your Velocity, KrisFlyer or Flybuys account.

The transfer rates may vary depending on your Suncorp Rewards account. But, as a guide, the Suncorp Rewards website has listed the following exchange rates for people who are not logged in to their rewards account:

  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer: 2.5 Suncorp Rewards points = 1 KrisFlyer Mile
  • Velocity Frequent Flyer: 2 Suncorp Rewards points = 1 Velocity Point
  • Flybuys: 1.33 Suncorp Rewards points = 1 Flybuys point

To give you an idea of the potential value of a point transfer, transferring 12,400 Suncorp Rewards points to Velocity Frequent Flyer would give you enough for a one-way economy flight from Sydney to Melbourne (from 6,200 Velocity Points, not including fees and taxes).

⚠️ Important: Rewards can change over time. Sometimes the amount of points needed for a redemption will also vary depending on your card. Check the Suncorp Rewards website for the latest details or log in to your account if you already have a Suncorp Rewards credit card.

How much are Suncorp Rewards points worth?

You can use Finder's points-to-dollars calculator to get an estimate of how much Suncorp Rewards points are worth.

Keep in mind that each reward is worth a different amount in dollars and some rewards don't have a clear dollar value. This is typical for most rewards programs.

To give you an idea of the different values offered by rewards, here are some examples based on details publicly listed on the Suncorp Rewards website.

If there are other rewards you want to get, or if the values shown are different when you log in, you can use Finder's guide to calculating the values of reward points for any redemption.

How to get the most value from Suncorp Rewards

Always choose rewards that you want or need, so you can at least save some cash. If there's nothing you want, keep saving points until you have enough for a reward you do want.

If you're planning to travel in the future, keep point transfers in mind as frequent flyer programs typically offer the most value per point when they are redeemed for flights.

How to redeem Suncorp Rewards points

You can redeem your Suncorp Rewards points online in 3 steps:

  1. Go to https://www.suncorpbankrewards.com.au/.
  2. Sign in to your account. This will show you the most accurate details of rewards and how many points you need.
  3. Choose the reward you want and follow the prompts to redeem it.

How to decide if the Suncorp Rewards program is worth it for you

For some people, the value of rewards can help offset credit card costs like the annual fee. But for others, the rewards won't be worth it.

So, here are the key factors you should look at to decide if Suncorp Rewards (or any other program) is right for you.

  1. The cost of the card. The card's annual fee and interest rate for purchases are key costs to weigh against the value of rewards and other perks.
  2. How much you'll use the card. The main way you earn Suncorp Rewards points is by using your credit card for eligible spending. Think about how much you'll spend with the card each month or year, and how many points per $1 that will get you, to see how much value you can expect to get from rewards.
  3. If there are rewards you actually want. There is a good mix of ways to redeem your Suncorp Rewards points, including frequent flyer point transfers, gift cards, cashback and charity donations. But the value of any reward ultimately comes down to how much you want or need it – so take a look at exactly what's on offer to help you decide if this rewards program is a good fit for you.

Frequently asked questions

What if I don't have enough points for a reward?

Suncorp Rewards has a Points Plus Pay option for some rewards. When it's available, you can use a combination of points and Australian dollars to redeem your reward. For the portion that you pay for in cash, you can choose to use your credit card or a debit card.

If I transfer my Suncorp Rewards points to a frequent flyer program, will they expire?

It depends on the loyalty program that you transfer your points to, but once your points have been transferred, they are subject to the rules of that loyalty program. So check the terms and conditions for that program to see if and when they would expire.

No. The account you're transferring points into must be in the same name as your Suncorp Rewards account.

How can I contact Suncorp if I have a question or need to change my details?

You can go to the website and use the search function to find what you need, at Banking Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) | Suncorp Bank or call Suncorp on 13 11 55.

Where can I find my points balance for the Suncorp credit card rewards program?

You can check your points balance and account details by logging in at www.suncorpbankrewards.com.au. Once you're signed in, go to "Home", then "My Account", then select the "Points Balance" option.

This will display details about your transactions for the current month, including when you earned points or if you redeemed them. It also has options for viewing transactions and balances for previous months.
