From frequent flyer rewards cards to low rate and no annual fee options, Virgin Money credit cards offer something for every type of spender. Depending on the card you choose, you could also get an introductory 0% interest rate on balance transfers or purchases, bonus points and platinum perks such as complimentary insurance and flight vouchers.
Virgin Money was also recognised in the Finder Credit Card Awards for 2024, with the Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card named as winner in the Best Balance Transfer Credit Card category and Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer as highly commended in the Best Frequent Flyer Credit Card - Velocity category.
The Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer and High Flyer credit cards earn Velocity Points for every $1 you spend on eligible purchases. These points are added to your Velocity account, where you can redeem them for flights with Virgin Australia and other airline partners, accommodation, gift cards and items from the Velocity Rewards Store.
Similar to other Velocity credit cards, you could also get bonus Velocity Points offers with a new Velocity Flyer or High Flyer card. But these cards also stand out from other frequent flyer options by offering a $129 Virgin Australia gift voucher each year.
Premium credit cards
The Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer is a top-tier rewards card that offers a higher earn rate than the Velocity Flyer, with 1 Velocity Point per $1 on eligible purchases up to $8,000 per month, then 0.5 Velocity Points for every $1 spent.
It also offers 2 complimentary single-entry Virgin Australia domestic lounge passes each year and complimentary travel insurance. While its standard annual fee of $329 is similar to other premium rewards cards, make sure you consider whether the benefits will outweigh the cost of it.
Balance transfer credit cards
If you have existing debt you want to pay off, a Virgin Money balance transfer credit card could help you save on interest charges by offering a competitive introductory interest rate, such as 0% for up to 24 months. After that, a standard interest rate will apply to any balance remaining from the transfer.
With Virgin Money, you can balance transfer up to 80% of your available credit limit from credit cards, store cards, personal loans and lines of credit held with other Australian financial institutions. But keep in mind that no interest-free days apply to purchases when you're paying of a balance transfer on a Virgin Money credit card.
No annual fee credit cards
The Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card gives you a way to save on credit card costs with an ongoing $0 annual fee. In comparison, credit cards with annual fees typically charge between $25 and $1,450. This card's 19.99% p.a. variable interest rate for purchases is also competitive with other no annual fee cards.
Low rate credit cards
Virgin's Low Rate credit card is designed to help you save on interest charges, offering a low variable purchase rate of 12.99% p.a. It also has an annual fee of $99 and contactless payment options through Visa payWave.

Our expert says
"I was looking for a credit card that would earn me stacks of Velocity Points. My nearest supermarket is Coles, and I already had plenty of Flybuys to convert to Velocity Points. For me, a Virgin Money credit card made most sense as it came with lots of bonus points and a high earn rate. The only downside was the annual fee, but the bonus points, when spent on reward flights, paid for itself immediately. Now I'm earning thousands of points each month and can save hundreds of dollars on flights per year."

If you're the primary cardholder, you'll also be responsible for all charges on the account.
You have the following options to make repayments on a Virgin Money credit card.
Direct debit. Go to the Virgin Money website to complete and submit a Virgin Money Direct Debit Auto Pay Application Form. For each statement you get, you're required to pay a minimum repayment of at least 2% of the closing balance or $25, whichever is greater. You must pay this amount by the due date listed on your credit card statement or you'll incur a late payment fee. However, if you want to avoid collecting interest, you should pay your balance in full before this due date.
If you have a Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer or High Flyer credit card, the points you have earned for your eligible spending will be calculated at the end of each statement period. Points will then be transferred to your Velocity account within three business days from the end date on your statement.
