Where is Sumo Energy available?
Sumo Energy sells electricity and gas to a little under 40,000 customers across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and South Australia.
If you're looking to bundle your utilities, it also sells Internet plans and encourages bundling.
Can I bundle gas and electricity with Sumo Energy?
Yes. Bundling a gas or electricity plan with Sumo Internet will give a bigger discount on your NBN bill.
If you're not after an Internet plan as well, bundling gas and electricity may provide some extra convenience, but no discount.
Sumo Energy and Internet bundling
Sumo sells its NBN plans at a discount if you have an active gas or electricity account with it: $5 less with gas, $10 less with power, or $15 less with both.
You have to sign up to a 12- or 24-month contract to receive this discount, with a maximum early termination fee of $250.
Data from the 2019-2020 market report by the Australian Energy Regulator is a valuable source for determining how good a provider's customer service is. This is how Sumo Energy performed during that period compared to others:

Why does customer service rating matter? A high customer service score is a great indicator of how your energy provider will help you:
Understand your current electricity, gas or solar plan
Switch to a new plan
Figure out your energy bill
When you're experiencing any financial difficulty
How can I get in touch with Sumo Energy?
If you need to get in touch with Sumo Energy's Melbourne-based support team, there's only one main way to contact them:
Phone the call centre between 9am - 4:30pm AEST weekdays.
You can also send an email, but there's no indication of how long it might take to get a response.
Solar Energy
Does Sumo Energy offer solar plans?
Sumo Energy will provide a feed-in tariff for excess solar power that you export to the grid. If you don't already have a solar energy system, unfortunately Sumo won't help you with installing one.
How good is the feed-in tariff?
Sumo Energy's feed-in tariffs are fairly average, with particularly decent rates in Victoria. New South Wales residents won't get quite as much.
Here's a breakdown of solar feed-in tariffs by state.
Sumo Energy doesn't have any particular green incentives, lacking either carbon neutrality or the option to add GreenPower onto your plan and support renewables.
Ready to sign up with Sumo energy?
Now that you've read our review of Sumo energy, you can check out its plans once again before signing up. Alternatively, if you're unsure, you can compare other energy providers on Finder before commiting to a decision.
Important notes: The estimated price we show by default is based on a single rate tariff. On your bill this might be known as a "peak tariff", "peak only" or an "anytime tariff". There are other tariff types available to customers and you may need to contact your provider if you are on these tariffs:
Single rate with a controlled load
Time of use
Time of use with a controlled load
The price estimate should not be used as an official quote, but an indication of what your costs may be on the plan. It varies based on whether you provide us with your bill details. You can learn more here.

Hi my name is Michael. I was a sumo gas user. I canceled my acc as i will be in Thailand for the next year. I have not received a final bill as I requested on the 21/1/19 approx. Now I am thinking the new tenants may be using the gas under my name. I need to contact some one from this company through my email address.

Important information about this website
Finder makes money from featured partners, but editorial opinions are our own.
Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
