How to make a Qantas health insurance claim

For Qantas hospital cover you usually won't receive a bill if your procedure is covered by your policy, you go to an nib Agreement Private Hospital, and your specialists participate in nib's MediGap scheme. You'll just have to pay any excess that applies. If you do receive a hospital bill and you're covered for the procedure, you can make a claim online via the Qantas Health Insurance' self-service portal. You can also call Qantas Health Insurance on 13 49 60 if you need some help with the process.

For extras claims you'll normally tap your Qantas Health Insurance card at any provider with a HICAPS machine and just pay the remaining bill, if there is any. If you can't claim at your service provider, you can claim online via the self-service portal or through the Qantas Wellbeing app.

Complaints info

Qantas Health Insurance is underwritten by nib which, unfortunately, has a sub-standard record with complaints. nib has 9.6% of market share but accounted for 10.1% of complaints received by the Commonwealth Ombudsman's Office in the last financial year. This means nib is receiving a higher-than-average number of complaints.

      Hi Nellie,

Thanks for reaching out. Qantas Health Insurance does not belong to our panel of health insurers and we are not permitted to provide our users with personal advise or product recommendations.

You may, however, refer to our guides on how to maximise your extras cover. You can also learn more about switching health insurance policies for some helpful tips.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Liezl
