Our verdict: felix's data inclusions on its mobile plans are pretty good for how much you end up paying. However, just watch out for speed caps on its unlimited data plan.
We currently don't have a partnership for that product, but we have other similar offers to choose from (how we picked these
):
"I switched mobile providers like 6 times this year, and I wasn't 100% happy with any of them. There was always an issue somewhere, whether it was customer service, coverage, price, or something else. I switched for Felix about 5 months ago and it's been great. Mostly the unlimited data is what I'm sticking around for, but the coverage is pretty good, their international roaming option is affordable, and unlimited data is my jam."
TPG Telecom's felix mobile gives you an affordable and eco-friendly way to sign up to any of its 3 mobile plans.
It's the only telco in Australia to boast an unlimited data plan, although you'll have to be okay with a 20Mbps download speed cap.
In addition to unlimited data, signing up with felix comes with some additional benefits:
It's 1 of 5 carbon neutral providers in Australia. felix also plants 1 tree per active subscription each month.
Refer a friend discount. If you get someone to sign up to felix, you and your friend will get $35 of credit in your felix wallet. This is effectively one month free.
Unlimited international calls and texts. While this will cost you $5 more per month, you can keep in touch with loved ones in 40 different countries.
Just keep in mind:
Its international roaming add-on is expensive. If you're travelling with your felix plan, you'll have to pay $20 for 4GB of data plus 100 standard minutes and 100 SMS messages.
Plans auto renews. If you want to cancel make sure you do so before auto-renewal kicks in.
20Mbps will get you through most of the tasks you want on your phone, even if it's slower than what you'd get on other mobile plans.
Listen to Spotify, Apple Music or Podcasts (approximately 0.5Mbps)
Use social media (around 0.1Mbps although each platform differs)
Play casual games on your mobile (5-10Mbps)
HD video calls with friends (approximately 6Mbps)
As a comparison the average 4G speed is just under 40Mbps, while Telstra boasts it can get closer to 200Mbps.
Keep in mind: felix provides a maximum of 20Mbps, but your actual mobile internet speed will still depend on other factors like your location and coverage area.
felix now has 3 mobile plans on its roster that all offer decent value for money. However, the unlimited data plan which felix made its name off remains the most interesting.
It will set you back $40 a month but this could be worth it if you're someone that has high data needs and doesn't mind the 20Mbps download speed caps.
If you're after a mobile plan without a speed cap, felix also offers 25GB and 50GB plans that come with endless data. This means once you've used up your monthly data allowance, your speeds will be capped at 1.5Mbps until your next renewal.
Both plans stack up decently against our $1 per GB benchmark.
Its 25GB plan is bang on 1:1 for price and data, while its 50GB plan does even better for value, where you'll pay $0.60 per GB.
Things to watch out for:
Your download speeds will never be faster than 20Mbps on its unlimited data plan.
According to felix's fair use policy, you are only allowed to tether your mobile plan to your personal devices. You can't use your felix mobile plan as an internet replacement.
Your plan will automatically renew each calendar month until you pause or cancel your subscription via the felix mobile app.
Coverage
felix operates on the Vodafone 4G/5G mobile network, which comes in last for coverage compared to Optus and Telstra.
Its 4G network reaches 96% of the Australian population, which should be fine if you live in a metropolitan area
Has identical coverage to a plan purchased directly from Vodafone
Compared to Telstra's 99.5% coverage, you may find that you lack coverage in some rural and regional areas
Customer service
felix only offers online service. But you can reach the providers any day of the week.
Speak to an agent via live chat on the felix mobile website, 8am-8pm weekdays and 9am to 6pm on weekends
Chat to an agent via the mobile app, where you can also pause or renew your plan, update your details and even see how many trees felix has planted for you
Message the provider via Whatsapp. You can again get in contact with the provider on Whatsapp between 8am-8pm weekdays and 9am to 6pm on weekends
Keep in mind: There aren't any physical store locations or call centres for felix mobile, so if you prefer speaking to someone for help, you may want to look elsewhere.

Bonus features
felix might not have all the perks of the big providers, but it still has some strong benefits you might enjoy.
😊 7-Day Happiness Guarantee
If you're unhappy with your felix mobile plan within 7 days of activation, you can claim a full refund via the app.
👫 Referral discount
When you refer a friend to felix mobile, you'll both get a $35 credit when they activate. You can use your unique referral code to take advantage of this discount. You'll be able to refer as many friends as you can.
🌏 International roaming
felix offers 4GB of data, 100 standard international SMS and 100 standard international call minutes for $20. This is valid for 365 days and can be used in over 40 selected countries.
Not many smaller providers offer an international roaming add-on, so felix stands out in this way. However, what you get for your money isn't great.
If you're looking for a SIM to take with you on short visits, its inclusions could be enough, but those going on longer travels may be better off with a local or travel SIM instead.
⏸ Pause your subscription
Want to put your mobile plan on hold, but not lose your phone number?
You can pause your subscription for up to 242 days after your latest renewal without paying a cent. You will be able to use your phone as normal until 48 hours after the end of your current billing cycle.
For the first 60 days of being paused you'll be able to receive incoming calls and SMS, make emergency calls and access felix's site.
After 60 today and up to 182 days, you'll only be able to make emergency calls and access felix's website.
After 182 your service will be terminated and unable to be reactivated.
📱 Wi-Fi Calling
felix now offers its customers Wi-Fi calling (also called Voice-over LTE or VoLTE). Wi-Fi calling is useful for faster call connections, call quality and sending calls and texts over Wi-Fi when you have poor signal.
Ready to sign up to felix?
Once you've decided which felix Mobile plan you like, you'll simply have to fill out a few details. From there felix Mobile will take care of the rest. SIM delivery is free via standard postage, but can take up to 10 business days to arrive at your door.
Keep in mind that you'll also need to download the felix mobile app in order to complete your purchase.
What if I want to keep my current phone number? You can choose to keep your current phone number via the app when you activate your SIM.
felix says porting your number should only take a few minutes normally, but could take up to 3 hours (so long as you activate your SIM during business hours).

When you say Felix international roaming is 20 per month , and valid for 365 days. Does it mean if I subscribe to international roaming and pay 20$ but do not use any of the 4gb or international calls or sms whilst traveling , the 20$ I paid should last me 365 days ?

Hi Tony, It isn’t $20 a month, it’s a $20 one-time fee. So yes, once you’ve purchased it, you have 365 days to use it. Once you exhaust the voice, text and data inclusions, you’d need to pay another $20 to continue roaming. Hope this helps.

Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature.
