AustralianSuper, Hostplus and Cbus are among the top performing Balanced super funds over the last 10 years.

The top performing Balanced super funds over the last 10 years are all member-owned or industry super funds, according to the latest data from SuperRatings.

Balanced funds are those which invest around 60-80% of their balance into growth assets like shares. The majority of Australians have their super invested in a Balanced fund as they're often the default options offered by funds.

Here are the 10 top performers over the last 10 years, as of December 2024.

1. Hostplus Balanced

Hostplus Balanced has returned 8.4% p.a. over the past 10 years, and achieved a return of 10.3% p.a. for 2024. It invests around 50% of the fund into shares, and 30% into property and infrastructure.

It's fees are on the higher side, at 1.25% of your annual balance.

2. Australian Retirement Trust - Balanced

Australian Retirement Trust Balanced has returned 8.3% p.a. over the past 10 years, and achieved a return of 11.9% p.a. for 2024. It invests just over 50% of the fund into shares, and 30% into unlisted assets and alternative investments.

Its fees are 0.94% of your annual balance.

3. AustralianSuper Balanced

AustralianSuper Balanced has returned 8.1% p.a. over the last 10 years, with a return of 10.5% p.a. for 2024. It invests around 60% of the fund into shares, and 14% towards infrastructure.

It has some of the lowest fees of all Balanced funds, at just 0.77% of your annual balance.

4. UniSuper Balanced

UniSuper Balanced has returned 7.9% p.a. over the last 10 years, with a return of 11.7% p.a. for 2024. It invests around 60% of the fund into shares.

UniSuper Balanced has fees of 0.81% of your annual balance.

5. Cbus Growth (MySuper)

Cbus Super Growth has returned 7.8% p.a. over the last 10 years, with a return of 10.8% p.a. for 2024. It invests around 50% of the fund into shares, and 10% into property.

Its fees are 0.82% of your annual balance.

6. Vision Super Balanced Growth

Vision Super Balanced Growth has returned 7.8% p.a. over the last 10 years, with a return of 10.2% p.a. for 2024. It invests around 60% of the fund into shares, and almost 20% into property and infrastructure.

It has some of the lowest fees of all Balanced funds, at just 0.75% of your annual balance.

7. Hostplus Indexed Balanced

Hostplus Indexed Balanced has returned 7.7% p.a. over the past 10 years, and achieved an impressive return of 14.2% p.a. for 2024. It invests heavily into shares, and has very low fees of less than 0.30% of your balance.

8. HESTA Balanced Growth

HESTA Balanced Growth has returned 7.7% p.a. over the last 10 years, with a return of 11% p.a. for 2024. It invests a bit over 50% of the fund into shares, and 16% into infrastructure and property.

It has fees of 0.91% of your annual balance.

9. Aware Super Balaced

Aware Super Balanced has returned 7.7% p.a. over the last 10 years, with an impressive return of 12.4% p.a. for 2024. It invests around 55% of the fund into shares, and almost 20% into property and infrastructure.

10. CareSuper Balanced

CareSuper Balanced has returned 7.6% p.a. over the last 10 years, with a return of 9.6% p.a. for 2024. It has fees of 0.95% of your annual balance.
