How will Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana perform in 2025? We asked around...

It's fair to say 2024 was a bumper year for cryptocurrency.

From the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in January through to the pro-crypto Trump administration's election victory in November, it's hard to remember a year where so much has gone right for the crypto industry.

Bitcoin passing US$100,000 for the first time ever was the icing on the cake and sets up what should be an exciting 2025 for the crypto space.

To get a sense of what could be in store for investors this year, we asked Finder's expert panel, an amateur crypto investor, an AI chatbot and my mum for their predictions on what prices the most popular cryptocurrencies might hit in 2025.

For simplicity, all predictions have been converted to US dollars.

Meet our contributors

The experts - Our panel of 28 crypto industry specialists

Ben - Senior Growth Manager and amateur crypto investor

ChatGPT - OpenAI's generative artificial intelligence chatbot

Kate - Semi-retired teacher (and my mum)

2025 Bitcoin price predictions

The experts: Our panel predicts Bitcoin will be worth US$113,364 on average in 2025.

What they say: "I anticipate that when the Fed and other central banks kick-start the monetary easing at full speed, Bitcoin will have the conditions for growth once again." - Damian Chmiel, senior analyst at Finance Magnates

The amateur: "I think it will reach a maximum price of US$200,000."

What he says: "The froth is starting to brew. Yes there's more bullish news than ever with ETFs, US reserves etc, but profit will be taken and we should see a blow off top mid this year."

The AI: "Bitcoin could peak at around US$150,000 in 2025."

What it says: "Bitcoin could hit $150,000 in 2025 due to post-halving supply constraints, growing institutional adoption, and increasing recognition of Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty."

My mum: "I think it's going to go down, so right now [US$100,000] is the highest price it will get to."

What she says: "That's what I want to happen, I want it to go down."

2025 Solana price predictions

The experts: Our panel predicts Solana will be worth US$407 on average in 2025.

What they say: "Strong underlying fundamentals, DeFi sector growth, positive market sentiments and memecoin effect are some key factors that will surge the price of SOL in the next few years." - Shubham Munde, research team lead at Market Research Future

The amateur: "I think Solana could hit US$650."

What he says: "Solana is one of the fastest (transactions per second), cheapest and most used chains, especially for things like memecoins, which are booming. I can't see anything less than a 2x on this coin, and think a 3x is likely."

The AI: "The max price Solana could hit in 2025 is potentially US$500."

What it says: "This could be driven by exponential ecosystem growth, mass adoption of its low-cost, high-speed blockchain technology, and favourable market conditions for layer-1 networks."

My mum: "I think it will get to US$625. That's a wild guess."

What she says: "I've got no idea what Solana or memecoins are. I'm just plucking a number out of the air."

2025 Ethereum price predictions

The experts: Our panel predicts Ethereum will be worth US$6,107 on average in 2025.

What they say: "EVM [Ethereum virtual machine] is still the number one world computer. The market is gonna come back to the EVM king." - Pedro Febrero, VP of Web3 at Realfevr

The amateur: "Ethereum might hit US$6,000."

What he says: "Ethereum has not materially improved enough to compete. Gas fees are still too high, there's low TPS [transactions per second], the number of developers on the chain is stagnating and the lack of price appreciation versus other crypto assets in 2024 reflects that."

The AI: "Ethereum could reach a high of US$10,000 in 2025."

What it says: "This would be fuelled by widespread adoption of its ecosystem for DeFi, NFTs, and enterprise use cases, alongside increased scalability and reduced costs from Layer 2 solutions and upgrades like sharding."

My mum: "I don't understand anything about it, but I'll say US$3,750."

What she says: "I know nothing about it, I don't really care about it."
