Where are NBN 12 and NBN 1000 plans, you might be wondering. amaysim told Finder it wants to focus where there is the most market demand, which is across the 4 plans it has chosen (~87%).
Existing amaysim mobile customers will continue to receive the introductory discounted price even after the first 6 months are up. You just need to maintain an amaysim SIM only plan for it.
So, who can sign up for amaysim's NBN plans right now?
For now, sign-up is by invitation only until 14 August for the first 500 customers who currently have an existing mobile plan with the telco.
Existing customers who have already registered interest will be the first customers to be contacted.
It's keen to test things out before going full steam ahead, and so the full market drop is still "a few months out".
Which makes sense...It was only a few weeks back that amaysim announced it would be launching NBN plans.
It will use this time to capture customer feedback through surveys and interviews.
People who participate will be offered a little something extra such as 3 months of free plan fees.
amaysim's news comes after Aussie Broadband recently launched its budget-friendly sub-brand Buddy Telco. Read all about it here.

Fun fact: amaysim used to sell NBN plans back in the day but sold its broadband customers to Southern Phone in 2018 citing "the punitive wholesale costs imposed by the NBN", according to the Australian Financial Review. However, Optus acquired it in November 2020 and since then things have been fairly smooth sailing for the telco.
