69% of new Aussie Broadband customers are getting an NBN 100 or up.

Aussie Broadband recently released its half-year results for FY24 which explained how residential customers were signing up to the 3 fastest NBN plans available.

This comes after NBN released its new pricing framework at the tail end of 2023.

Several providers reciprocated by making faster NBN plans cheaper - NBN 100, NBN 250 and NBN 1000.

At the same time, they also increased the cost of slower speed tiers such as NBN 50.

Aussie Broadband: NBN 50 vs NBN 100

For example, Aussie Broadband's NBN 50 plan used to cost $79 a month. Now it's priced at $85 a month.

Its NBN 100/20 also went down in price. It costs $95 a month instead of $99.

This puts the price difference between the 2 plans at $10 a month instead of $20.

NBN 50 is still the most popular speed tier in Australia, but the gap is slowly shrinking.

It used to be that 62% of Aussies were signed up to an NBN 50 plan, but now the number's gone down to 42.5% as per the ACCC's last report.

NBN 100 is currently the second most popular speed tier. It's usually good for households of 3-4 people or heavy internet users.

In other news, reports are flying around that Aussie Broadband is pursuing a merger with Superloop, another popular NBN provider.

"We believe the combination of Aussie Broadband and Superloop will be value accretive for both of our shareholders and importantly, improve our positioning and customer propositions in what is a highly competitive industry," Aussie Broadband Group managing director Phillip Britt said in a statement.
