Finder has named its finalists in the third annual Finder Green Awards, highlighting the Australian businesses shaping sustainability best practice.

The Finder Green Awards exist to help Australians make more sustainable decisions every day across several industries including energy, insurance, banking, shopping, superannuation and telecommunications.

Entrants were judged on broad environmental metrics including greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy usage and waste avoiding landfill, as well as a selection of industry-specific criteria to showcase how they're paving the way for sustainability in their field over the last 12 months.

The people-based categories and the innovation award were based on key achievements from 2021 and their impact.

Returning finalists include Woolworths, Hyundai and Belong while brands like Suncorp Bank and Kia are making their Finder Green Awards debut.

Amy Bradney-George, editor of Finder's sustainability vertical Finder Green, commended the calibre of this year's entries.

"The environment is definitely a key priority for many Australians at the moment and businesses are listening to that.

"The submissions we received show that these businesses are serious about doing their bit to protect our planet for generations to come."

Finder research found that over the last year, the percentage of Australians who consider a brand's social and environmental efforts to be extremely or very important when making a purchase decision grew from 42% to 44%.

Bradney-George said the Finder Green Awards strive to make sustainable choices easier for Australians.

"It can be hard to know where to start when you want to go green with your shopping, household essentials, banking or anything else. So the Finder Green Awards badge signals to consumers that they're starting in a good place.

"The finalists that have been named today are a testament to the commitment they've made to building a greener future."

The Finder Green Awards program is submission-based. In order to select our finalists, we scored each submission against a combination of general environmental and industry-specific criteria to determine the best performing entrants for each category.

Winners will be revealed at a ceremony in Sydney on Wednesday 8 June. Finalists will be sent instructions separately about how they can register their attendance.
