With 31 August fast approaching, you'll need to set aside time to claim the $250 Power Saving Bonus in Victoria before the program closes.

All households across Victoria are eligible to claim $250 as part of the state's Power Saving Bonus scheme.

Applications for round 2 of the scheme first opened up on March 24 2023.

If you haven't applied for the rebate yet, then you'll need to hurry to register on the Victorian Energy Compare website before 11:59pm AEST on 31 August 2023.

Back in 2022 when the first round was launched, over 1.7 million households took advantage of the $250 Power Saving Bonus to help negate rising energy bills.

How exactly do I apply for Victoria's $250 Power Saving Bonus?

Here's a rundown of the steps to claim the bonus. It's a super easy process and shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

  1. Head to the Victorian Energy Compare website.
  2. Click on the button that says 'Submit a $250 Power Saving Bonus application'.
  3. Follow the prompts and keep your latest energy bill handy since you'll need to upload it to confirm you're a Victorian electricity consumer.

As part of the application process, you will also be advised of some of the best electricity plans available to you. However, you don't need to sign up to either of them in order to get the $250 Power Saving Bonus.

If you can't access the form for any reason, you can call 1800 000 832 for further help.

How else can I stay on top of rising energy bills?

The $250 Power Saving Bonus is well and good, but it's likely not enough to stop feeling the pressure of rising energy bills since price hikes kicked in on 1 July.
