Money Hack: How to save at Coles with eGift cards
Play your cards right and you could save between 4% and 15% on your supermarket shopping.
The cost of groceries can quickly eat away at our bank balance, so even a small saving can make a difference. This hack is a really simple way to save on groceries by paying with digital gift cards for Coles (eGift cards).
The Hack
Many companies offer reward or benefit programs that allow you to purchase eGift cards at a discounted rate. This includes electricity providers, banks, car insurance companies and employee-benefit schemes or platforms.
If you have a membership with any of the following organisations, you can buy gift cards for Coles at a lower rate, then save when you use them to pay for your shopping. For example, you could buy a $100 gift card for $95, which is equivalent to 5% off your shop.
Provider/organisation | eGift card discount (or % equivalent) | Other details |
---|---|---|
AGL Rewards | 5% off | To register, log in to your AGL account and follow the prompts to activate AGL Rewards. |
AANT | Up to 15% off (discounts vary by store and offer) | To purchase, log in to your account and click on the “eGift Card” link. |

Seniors Victoria | 4% off | To get this offer, visit the Seniors Victoria eGift card page on the Spendless website, click on the Coles eGift card value you want and follow the prompts to complete the purchase. Note that you will need to create an account on the Spendless website and also need to provide your Seniors Victoria membership number. |
A couple of other details to note: There may be limits to the number of eGift cards you can buy. Some companies also apply a surcharge for credit card payments. Check with the company that you’re buying the eGift cards through to find out the limits and fees.
Also, Coles eGift cards are only accepted at Coles Supermarkets. While this includes metropolitan Coles Central locations, it excludes Coles Express and Coles online. But if you head to your nearest Coles Supermarket, you can just present the eGift card to a staff member when you're paying – or type the required details into a self-serve checkout – and you’ll enjoy these savings.
