Samsung’s Galaxy Ring is finally on sale in Australia, with great S24 deals in tow
The Galaxy Ring is priced at $699 and is compatible with other Android phones, though there are some limitations if you're not using a Samsung handset.
Samsung's been teasing the Galaxy Ring for months, but the wait is finally over for Aussies interested in its latest leap into wearable health and wellness tech.
Here's a quick rundown of what it can do:
- Sleep tracking. You also get advanced details such as snore detection, blood oxygen measurements, skin temperature and more
- Auto detects workouts and will stop recording a minute after you're done exercising
- Tracks period cycles
- Measures heart rate
- Digital wellness insights through AI such as an overall energy score to get an idea of how your health data is tracking
These insights will be available on the Samsung Health app across phones running on Android 10 and above. But there are two things that only people with a Samsung handset will be able to do:
- You can double pinch your fingers to take photos on your phone camera or dismiss your alarm (no the ring won't vibrate or make a sound when the alarm goes off but you don't need to be near your phone to dismiss it).
- Find My Ring with Samsung Find. Again, you'll need a Galaxy phone to find the last location where your ring came off. If it ends up moving from that spot, you won't be able to track it.
Samsung says the battery can last up to seven days and you can wear it 24/7. It's also IP68 water and dust-resistant.
Unlike the Oura ring, there are no subscription fees. However, it is a fair bit more expensive than the Oura ring.
Galaxy Ring 30-day change of mind guarantee, colours, size and more
Most importantly, Samsung's throwing in a novel 30-day "extended change of mind" guarantee.
This is great given the money commitment you're making and for something you'll want to wear all the time.
The Galaxy Ring comes in nine size options and three colours - titanium black, titanium gold and titanium silver.
It's light and sits well on the finger. You could easily mistake it for a normal piece of jewellery which is exactly what we want.
But to make sure you get the right size, Samsung recommends one of two things: Ordering a sizing kit if you're purchasing the ring online or going in-store to try it on.
The sizing kit is recommended either way so you can wear a dummy ring for at least 24 hours to see if it's comfortable even when your fingers swell up a little.
Samsung Galaxy S24 deals
It seems Samsung's also trying to embed people in its ecosystem, quite similar to Apple.
The Find My Ring feature seems important enough to me personally given how much you're paying for it.
I don't think people will specifically switch to a Samsung handset for the Galaxy Ring itself but if you were considering the ring and looking to upgrade your phone, here are some deals on the popular S24 series to get you started.
