We've crunched the numbers: Here are the 5 best balance transfer credit cards on the market right now.

With these credit cards you can move your old, unpaid balance onto a new card and pay 0% interest for up to 28 months. That gives you plenty of time to repay the debt interest free.

At Finder we use a data-driven process to find the best cards each month. We call it the Finder Score. Here are the 5 top scoring credit cards with balance transfer offers in August.

1. St.George Vertigo Card

The St.George Vertigo Card has a Finder Score of 9.86. It offers what is the best balance transfer deal right now: 0% for 24 months with a 1% balance transfer fee.

This gives you more than 2 years to sort out your debt with a very low charge.

The BankSA Vertigo Card and the Bank of Melbourne Vertigo Cards have the exact same details as the St.George card.

2. Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card - Balance Transfer Offer

The Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card - Balance Transfer Offer has a Finder Score of 9.74. It has a 0% balance transfer offer for 24 months. Plus no annual fee for the first year. But there is a 1% balance transfer fee.

This card also lets you earn some Velocity Points on your spending. It's not really a high points earning card. It's much more aimed at the balance transfer customer.

3. NAB Low Rate Credit Card

The NAB Low Rate Credit Card has a Finder Score of Finder Score of 9.19. It has a 0% balance transfer offer for 24 months. There's a 3% balance transfer fee.

This is a good low rate card with $0 annual fee in the first year. It has one of the longest balance transfer offers. The 2% fee applies to the balance you transfer from an existing card and is a one-off charge.

4. Citi Clear Card - Balance Transfer Offer

The Citi Clear Card - Balance Transfer Offer has a Finder Score of 9.43. It has a 0% balance transfer offer for 28 months with a 2% balance transfer fee.

This card also offers a long 28-month window for you to repay your card debt with no interest. It also has the 2% fee for doing so, plus a $99 annual fee.

5. Westpac Low Rate Card

The Westpac Low Rate Card has a Finder Score of 9.71. It has a 0% balance transfer offer for 26 months. But there is a one-off balance transfer fee of 2%.

This card is a very competitive balance transfer offer for those looking for a low rate card. The annual fee is waived for the first year, which saves you even more (it's usually $59).
