As we roll into October, Finder has once again revealed Australia's best balance transfer credit cards.

These cards let debt-burdened Australians move unpaid card balances onto a new credit card, pay it off with up to 28 months of low or zero interest.

We use Finder's unique Score system to sort the best from the rest using mountains of rate, fee and offer data.

1. St.George Vertigo Card

The St.George Vertigo Card has a Finder Score of 9.86 in the balance transfer category.

This is the top scoring balance transfer offer right now, because of the long balance transfer period and the relatively low cost.

While some cards offer 0%, there's still a fee. A 0.99% interest rate and no fee can work out cheaper for some customers.

The BankSA Vertigo Card and the Bank of Melbourne Vertigo Cards have the exact same offer as the St.George card, and the same Finder Scores.

2. NAB Low Rate Credit Card

The NAB Low Rate Credit Card has a Finder Score of 9.19 in the balance transfer category. The card offers a 0% balance transfer for 28 months and a 2% balance transfer fee.

While that fee is fairly high, there's no annual fee in the first year. So it sort of balances out. This is a low rate card, meaning it's a basic card for spending and doesn't offer many perks or rewards.

But if your main focus is getting rid of credit card debt, that's probably a good thing.

3. Virgin Money Anytime Rewards Credit - Balance Transfer Offer

The Virgin Money Anytime Rewards Credit Card - Balance Transfer Offer has a Finder Score of 9.75.

It has a 0% balance transfer offer for 24 months with a 1% balance transfer fee. While you won't earn Velocity Points with this card, you will get Virgin Money Points (which you can convert to Velocity Points and use for other things).

4. Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card - Balance Transfer Offer

The Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card - Balance Transfer Offer has a Finder Score of 9.74.

It has a 0% balance transfer offer for 24 months with a 1% balance transfer fee and a $149 annual fee. And you can earn some Velocity Points on your spending.

A $129 annual Virgin gift card does offset most of the annual fee, which is nice.

5. Westpac Low Rate Card

The Westpac Low Rate Card has a balance transfer Finder Score of 9.71.

It has quite a long balance transfer period at 26 months, although the 2% fee is a touch higher. The annual fee is also quite low at $59 because it's a low rate card. This means it is good for people who want a cheap card without any many perks or extra.

Which is always useful when you're trying to pay off your card balance while avoiding overspending.

Details of these cards are correct at time of publication and subject to change.
