Yatango becomes Yomojo: What happens to customers?

Mobile provider Yatango has collapsed in Australia, but its existing customer base has been acquired by a new company called Yomojo. What does this mean for you if you were a Yatango customer?

Yomojo has emerged rather rapidly as the replacement company taking over the accounts of former Yatango Mobile customers. It announced the takeover in a tweet yesterday:

So what does this mean if you were a Yatango customer? At the moment, Yomojo is painting matters very much as a business-as-usual case, with a statement on the Yomojo website saying:

"There is no action required from existing customers. You will be charged the same amount each month for the same talk time, text and data.

What do you need to do now? Nothing at this point. We will be sending you further communications in the coming days on any steps you need to take next."

Yomojo’s deal plans currently mirror those of the old Yatango plans, so that makes a certain amount of sense. Service is delivered over the Optus 3G/4G network on Yomojo, as it was on Yatango. There’s the promise of new plans to come, but right now the build-your-own plan model that Yatango used locally is still very much in play at Yomojo.
