Yatango becomes Yomojo: What happens to customers?
Mobile provider Yatango has collapsed in Australia, but its existing customer base has been acquired by a new company called Yomojo. What does this mean for you if you were a Yatango customer?
Yomojo has emerged rather rapidly as the replacement company taking over the accounts of former Yatango Mobile customers. It announced the takeover in a tweet yesterday:
We’ve acquired all Yatango Mobile(Aus) @Yatangoinc customers and welcome them to the Yomojo family. More details at https://t.co/vxn4WGH1Ea

So what does this mean if you were a Yatango customer? At the moment, Yomojo is painting matters very much as a business-as-usual case, with a statement on the Yomojo website saying:
"There is no action required from existing customers. You will be charged the same amount each month for the same talk time, text and data.
What do you need to do now? Nothing at this point. We will be sending you further communications in the coming days on any steps you need to take next."
Yomojo’s deal plans currently mirror those of the old Yatango plans, so that makes a certain amount of sense. Service is delivered over the Optus 3G/4G network on Yomojo, as it was on Yatango. There’s the promise of new plans to come, but right now the build-your-own plan model that Yatango used locally is still very much in play at Yomojo.
Yatango used a no-contract model, so if you’re concerned about the stability of the new carrier, you should be able to shift to a new carrier with minimal fuss. If you’re not certain about how to transfer away from a carrier, check out our guide to mobile number portability here.
You have plenty of choices when it comes to options that are competitive with Yomojo's current offerings. Taking its 4GB Unlimited plan as an example, here is the rundown of comparable plans, all of which offer 4GB of data or more.
