Who is AAMI?

AAMI is one of Australia's largest insurers, offering cover across a range of areas including car and vehicle, home and property, life and income, business, health, and pet.

In fact, AAMI was highly-commended for its home insurance in the 2023 Finder Awards.

AAMI previously offered travel insurance but confirmed it would no longer do so in February 2021.

When did AAMI stop offering travel insurance?

AAMI temporarily paused travel insurance in 2020 and then confirmed a permanent end to its travel insurance policies in 2021.

Why did AAMI stop offering travel insurance?

AAMI announced it would be temporarily suspending the sale and renewal of all its travel insurance policies in 2020, shortly after the Australian Government advised against overseas travel in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, Suncorp Group, the parent company of AAMI, confirmed it was permanently stopping travel insurance across all brands.

"Suncorp Group announced we would permanently cease underwriting travel insurance under all brands in February 2021," a Suncorp representative told Finder. "This was part of our efforts to simplify our operations."
