Youi Home Insurance

Our verdict

Pros

  • Youi has a high customer satisfaction rating, with local call centres and short wait times.
  • Youi offers a range of customisation options to tailor your policy to you.
  • Up to $1,500 per household member is offered for counselling after a claim, a rare benefit.

Cons

  • Sometimes, you have to call Youi to get a quote, you can't just request and buy online.
  • There's no discount if you buy online, a typical perk from other brands.
  • Some terminology is vague, including "reasonable costs" for home office damage.

Some of You's benefits are the standard amount, including $1,000 for lock replacement and $20 million for legal liability which is the same for the majority of brands. However, Youi outperforms most brands on temporary accommodation cover, with 12% of sum insured offered, compared to the 10% offered by Budget Direct, Bendigo and ING.

Our expert says

"I was looking for a cheap and fairly basic contents policy when I was moving. But I had a couple of pricey items I was worried might get damaged in the move. I took out a new policy with Youi and found the whole process quite simple. I was also able to call Youi and get a temporary extras cover on specific items just for the move. This was great for peace of mind and was very easy to sort out. Flexible, tailored cover is so important for insurance. And if the insurer makes it hard, it's time to switch."

      Hello Lalith,

      Thank you for your comment.

For landlord insurance on investment property, please refer to the brands listed in the comparison table that you can get quotes from. You can press the “Get a quote” button to be redirected to the insurer’s website where you can get a quotation.

Please make sure to read the eligibility criteria, features, and details of the policy, as well as the relevant Product Disclosure Statement PDS/T&C’s of the policy before making a decision and consider whether the product is right for you. If necessary, speak to the insurance brand to verify any details.

      Regards,
      Jhezelyn
